 Re: Wii U - Info & Discussion
I know, Future Shop, Best Buy, and possibly EB Games still have pre-orders available. I am wondering if they just continue to take preorders instead of cutting them off once they hit a certain limit. I remember the Wii was available for preorder in Canada for quite some time, but it was impossible to find in stores. I preordered my Deluxe bundle the day it was announced as soon as I saw the preorder page on Best Buy Canada, just to be safe.

Yeah, I thought maybe I could pre-order and they would ship to Florida....nope! You guys have some crazy taxes up there too. Glad to hear you got it reserved though!

 Re: Wii U - Info & Discussion
The Wii U Deluxe bundle is now sold out at Best Buy Canada. There are still Basic bundles available though.
It seems Best Buy Canada takes its time confirming preorders. I preordered my Deluxe bundle back on Sept 13, but I just got my confirmation email this morning.

 Re: Wii U - Info & Discussion
In a rather unsurprising news, it has been confirmed that the Wii U will be region locked.
This doesn't affect me since I don't import games. But it does stink for those that do.

 Re: Wii U - Info & Discussion
Hmmm... Back when I actually had an income (was that really only last month? It seems like the distant past...), I was pretty certain that I would buy the Wii U. I didn't know when, or how much I would enjoy it, but since the Wii paid off for me (not for everyone, but for me) I decided that I would give this system a chance.
Now I'm an engineering student with no time to spare for a paying job. The only income I have right now is my scholarship, grant and loan - basically, I am at equilibrium, neither making money nor yet quite losing it.
Unless I get some serious windfall through some means, I'm not likely to upgrade this year. That also means that this will be the first time I don't attain platinum status - I won't even get gold this year.
The woes of a college student :p
Oh well. Less video games = better grades = more scholarships = more money = more video games = worse grades = ....
Wait, I just said that less video games = more video games. I think I just proved mathematically that nothing exists.

Wait, I just said that less video games = more video games. I think I just proved mathematically that nothing exists. The answer is undefined. The limit does not exist. You have broken the system.

Incidentally, if R is the set of all sets that do not contain themselves, does R contain itself?

 Re: Wii U - Info & Discussion
Pre-ordered my Deluxe console last Sunday... guess I did it just in time, because all the EB Games here in Canada are done taking pre-orders! I'm around 20th on the list, so I'm genuinely concerned that I won't get my system on launch day. Worst case-scenario, I can wait in line at Best Buy and get a friend to see if they have enough consoles at EB. Yeah, I'm THAT excited. :P
Also, I made a Wii U banner! It's my signature now, and also my timeline banner. If you want one for your Facebook account, I'd be more than happy to give you guys the link! :D

What concentration? It's it great? And yes, my college lifestyle has slightly changed my game playing/buying habits. That's why I am so strict about what games I get. My list is quite short, and I won't be getting every game on it.

Quote: What is reality really? I mean, who I am? What is my significance in this world? If I never reach my limit, do I exist? Sure you do, you just aren't a continuous function. The sad fact of life! Jack: Computer engineering. I'm enjoying my reintroduction to math and programming so far. A little more free time would be nice, though! Why did I choose that? I decided that I'd rather work with my head than my back. I've lost enough blood at work to last me the rest of my life :p I like computers, and I work fairly well with figures. I thought that some engineering discipline would suit me best because of that. I originally planned to major in electrical engineering, but when I discovered computer engineering I chose that instead. Getting paid to tinker with Java and C++ or design computer components sounds like my kind of job.

 Re: Wii U - Info & Discussion
Wii U deluxe version... now paid off in full! With mostly YouTube money I got recently, I paid off Wii U in full so I won't have to worry about that later on launch day. Just go in, show my PowerUp Rewards card, and out with a Wii U. Only 45 days to go!

 Re: Wii U - Info & Discussion
Not that we didn't already know, but I sent an email to Nintendo regarding Wii VC --> 3DS VC saying that would be a great feature, and not have everybody pay for games twice, and this is the email I got back: Quote:
Thanks for contacting us. I can certainly understand your interest in transferring your Virtual Console titles from your Wii to the Nintendo 3DS, and vice versa; however, we aren't aware of any plans to include this kind of feature on the system. Rest assured that I will document your interest in such a feature and share it with other departments to use as they see fit. Furthermore, it may interest you to know that it will be possible to transfer Wii Virtual Console titles (as well as your Miis and WiiWare) from your Wii console to the upcoming Wii U. Please note that both systems will need to be on hand and connected to the Internet and the Wii U will need an SD card to facilitate the transfer.
Appears that in order to send your Wii Data, it will need to be stored on an SD card on the Wii U. Interesting to say the least. THAT is why the Wii U supports SD cards (/sarcasm). Other notes: 38 days, 15 hours, 5 minutes (from the time of this post). Only $95 left to pay off my deluxe!

So, I went to Target and saw they had Wii U preorder cards but were out of them. :-( Oh well... I've already got mine at Walmart. Also saw the new eShop cards and their Wii U demo, but it was broken...

Found a Wii U demo station at Best Buy (and GameStop later) and recorded a video. Check out the video and my impressions here: http://www.nintendofuse.com/?p=42761. Can't wait for November 18th!
