I realized this a while back but never posted it. Did anyone notice that while Link is right handed in this game he still shoots the bow left handed.

I thought about it but never said anything. Hmmm.

I guess that's definitely possible, as I know real people who are like that.

It's just funny because they catered the game to right handers and then there is the whole left handed bow shooting, it's not a big deal but it's still funny.

Yep, I agree.
What I don't know is why they cater to right-handed. Why can't you choose either/or? That's what I'd prefer.

Because nobody actually plays with the nunchuck in their right hand.

I know left-handed friends who play with it in their left hand. And I would try if Link was left-handed in this one.

I stand corrected, I was generalizing off of my brother who is left handed. But when you really think about it, moving your character in almost all video games has been done with the left thumb. The NES, SNES, N64, and GCN all had their main D-pad/thumbstick positioned under the left thumb. I guess Nintendo decided it wasn't worth it to add a true lefty feature.

Agreed. I thought it was odd when I first saw it, but as soon as my couple friends realized the Wii remotes were in 2 parts, they instantly grabbed the remote in left hand and nunchuk in right.

While that holds true, you aren't using the d-pad to move, you use the control stick; which is still in the left hand (typically). Since the Wiimote is the sword, that had to be righty on the main side; but weapons like the bow could still be lefty since it's not the same. I haven't gotten the bow yet, but the animation of him using his left seems like a minor detail to hold true to his left-handedness.

Just matched this progress yesterday, I think I did it faster.

One thing I noted, was that this dungeon had horrible music. Very annoying (to me at least). The boss was really cool.

So I am one Piece of Heart away from completing my hero mode quest 100%. Getting the Hylian Shield was difficult to say the least.

Was the control issue with the pointer remote or the Nunchuck? I don't know if I have a dysfunctional nunchuck or something, but I'd take my thumb off the joystick and Link would run in a direction like it became off center. It was perfectly centered when I started, but I noticed it happened A LOT recently. It cost me some lives and giving me some nice angry sessions.

Basically I would disconnect the Wii Remote and reconnect and that resolved it. I figured out I can simply disconnect the nunchuck and that resolved it as well.

Anyone else have this issue?

I'm slowly catching up, I'm in the 5th dungeon and hoping to complete the story mode first.

That normally happens if you are pressing on the control stick when you turn on the game, or else your nunchuck is faulty. My main issue with the game was stabbing, after I spent a lot of time with the game the controls started to grow on me but I would often swing the sword when all I meant to do was a stab.

I'm guessing it might be bad if it changes mid-game. I thought there was a button combo (that is held for a few seconds) that recenters it.

It happened during the boss fight which made it hard to dodge when I was on the edge of dying.

To recenter it, simply unplug it, and plug it back in without touching the stick.

Played for 3 hours and didn't get anywhere :(. I have no idea what I need to do. There are no hints in the stone thin and fi doesn't help me either. I finished the heros quest, but have no idea what to do at the gate.

Unless that is the gate they are talking about. Now that I can type on the computer I can get the spoiler tags with more details:

Spoiler: show
I had just finished the Fire Sanctuary and says to go to the Gate of Time. Well I know there was the Temple of Time in the Desert. I went back there and nothing is really happening. Fi says to use the Beetle to explore the area better, and there was no hint videos with that rock in the village. Fi also said that I was at the Gate of Time. I tried nearly every weapon I have and can't figure out what to do. When I send the Beetle at the Triforce statue it dies immediately before getting there.

Hahaha finally! I have won the game! Awesome game! Definitely my favorite 3D Zelda game. Trying to see if I like it better than my NES favorites.

Post Re: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Just started this game a couple weeks ago. My thought's on it?

Well at first I was feeling a little put off by the slow start of the game, and especially all the dialog.....that stuff takes forever! And the artwork was a little weird, almost cel-shaded-ed? The graphics felt very bright and light. I thought they were ok.

Controls took some getting used to too. I feel a slight lag when changing Link's direction he is going. But that was it. Sword play was surprisingly good, it works great.

Camera system I think needs to be updated. I like that the Z button lets you face the direction you facing. But I hate the camera is very stale and doesn't move to a proper angle when going around corners or up stairs. :nintendorks:

Music is very good but forgettable. I really do like it but it's not like the old days when I would hum OoT's soundtrack when I wasn't playing the game.

Overall feel? I like it, it was a little slow at first, but after taking on the 2nd boss(that ball of rock spider thing), it's really pulling me into the world of LoZ again.

Oh and the bird flying is pretty cool. I really like moving from area to are with that bird.

So far, an 8/10. Possibly might change it farther into the game, which I know I have a TON more to go. :dslite:
