I charted my top 5 anime of all time.

Finished FMA, along with Conquerors of Shamballa. Incredible series, starting Brotherhood right away.

Its a glorious ride, make sure to see Sacred Star of Milos once youre done.

Finally finished all of the Dragonball manga (the manga covers both Dragonball (1-195) and Dragonball Z (196-520).

Closing Thoughts


It was a fun experience and puts a few themes in manga into perspective, which I guess is to be expected when ones first manga is Fairy Tail and Naruto. Dragonball was a fun experience, when the action was there.

Now I need some other shonen battle series of sorts to read that came before 2009.

Read Yu Yu Hakusho!!!!

I recently started browsing Crunchyroll (why have I not visited the site before, my creys!), and decided to start watching SKET Dance. I'm going to hop between SKET and Madoka Majika (on Trist's recommendation) for the next couple of weeks, I think.

I also discovered Otaku USA magazine just the other day, and bought the current issue at a Barnes and Noble. I think I might subscribe to it. Some decent information and decent writing (some better than others). Through Otaku USA, I found the site rightstuf.com, which has a pretty incredible bargain section. Anime DVDs for ~$4, at their cheapest. I'm going to pick up Genshiken vol 1-3 through that.

EDIT: Might put SKET on hold. I just started Durarara, after discovering it during Concast ep 5 (up right now!). I think I'm really going to enjoy it.

Yeah I first used the site when I was wanting to watch SKET Dance and didnt want to download that many episodes. I love that anime, so funny at times and they do the drama well too.

Im waiting for Durarara to release on Blu-Ray here before getting into it I think.

May add Yu Yu Hakusho to the read list, or maybe I will add it next. I guess.

I'm just streaming them. I watched a couple eps of SKET Dance and absolute love it. I'll probably just watch it occasionally, since it doesn't seem to have a heavy plot to follow.

Another series I'd recommend is Blood Lad. I think they're working through it atm. Just over 20 chapters have been translated. I'm not sure of how far in it is in JP.

Alright so the latest season finished of anime. This weekend brought me up to having completed 102 anime.


Best anime of last season were
-Tsuritama - short 11 episode anime on fishing and friendship to save the world, really beautiful and visually amazing
-Hyouka - visually amazing anime that is 21 episodes and still continuing, literature highschool club
-Saint Seiya Omega - Pegasus Fantasy, shonen battle series ftw, should be 50 or so episodes

Anyway this is the summer chart, Ill get back in a bit (next week to give impressions on the ones I watch, what are you watching and reading?

I finished FMA completely by the way. Both Original and Brotherhood and both movies. I'm thinking Cowboy Beepbop next, not sure.. Suggestions?

It's strange, but I really like it. Slice of life is my genre, and this fits the bill pretty well. I also really am enjoying working through Kids on the Slope. The music is fantastic.

Ao no Exorcist/Blue Exorcist, try it!



Slice of Life is so hit or miss for me. I may see the dub of Kids on the Slope but it didnt seem that much appealing, especially after learning that it seemed ot have a really rush ending of trying to adapt a longerish manga into so few episodes. Didnt much like the last Slice of Life of sorts I watched, Welcome to the NHK, but I loved every bit of Kimi to Boku 1 and 2.

Well, I blasted my way through Yuru Yuri last week, and then blew through Sword Art Online in a few days, so I'm caught up to the current state of both of those. I'm really enjoying them both. I guess I really enjoy slice of life shows about groups of girls in high school, so Yuru Yuri was an easy show to pick up. I was hesitant about SAO, but once I watched the first episode, I thought the main character was really cool, and the basic plot was pretty good, so I ended up watching the 9 or 10 eps that are out. Great show.

As of now, I'm working my way through La storia della Arcana Famiglia, only two eps in. I just watched it based on the cover image on Crunchyroll, and it turned out to be very interesting. I'm excited to make my way through it. I also started Puella Magi Madoka Magika, but I'm not sure I'll keep watching it. I don't like the characters or the plot so far, and the art is just terrible. I'm only two eps in on that as well, so I'll give it a few more before I decide.

EDIT: Oh, forgot to mention I'm working my way through the Genshiken anime as well, since I bought the box set on DVD. The English VA is terrible, so I'm sticking to the Japanese audio, sadly. It sounds like all the English voices were done by two people. Terrible.

You must be like my opposite, though I guess me and a few other anime fans are in the group that dont like the "High School Girls slice of life stuff" since like every series of it sounds exactly the same.

Sword Art Online is really cool, Kirito is so awesome


Only the first 3 episodes of Madoka Magica were worth it too me, not on my list of favorite anime, but well dont like the cast.

Fate/Zero was the last anime I have completed.

While I have not been exposed to Type Moon works before this, Fate/Zero was very enjoyable to me and it's not something you need to watch/play Fate/Stay Night to understand.

The show is beautifully animated with it's fights and backgrounds and the characters (whether it be the masters or servants) all have unique powers to their disposal which makes things interesting; especially with some of the tactful masters.

Fights to the death was not the only interesting part of the show however as Fate/Zero has an interesting story with some well executed themes and depth with each character having their own interesting view point that it makes you think whether or not what the character did was right or not; such the point with Kiritsugi later in the story. This all makes it all better as Fate/Zero is just not some cheesy shonen fight show as it offers much more than just pretty visuals.

and now to the characters! While they may not be the nicest of people, the masters in the story are all quite entertaining for their own points (Though to be honest, I did find Kokoimi to be a bit boring). Kirei and Kiritsugi both have to be my favorite masters as Kiritsugi had a strong belief in his goal and it was great to see him go to great lengths to achieve those. Kirei starts off as more of a "puppet" than anything but quickly begins to have his own desires which made for a great turn in the story later.

The servants are all fun as well as they are each reincarnations or famous figures of the past, such as Alexander the Great who's part of the Rider Class in Fate/Zero. Not to sound repetitve, but as said, they all have their own interesting abilities and it's neat to see them bounce off of each other, whether it be servants to servants in where both of them were kings, or to master and servant, such as Rider and Waver who were my favorite partners of the two.

Now what are some of my complaints? Exposition could have been handled it better as it could be a problem at times and some of the scenes in the show felt a little too forced, especially in the latter half which could make it a little hard to take seriously.

Trist, you watch Reborn!, right? That's what that Tsuna guys is from? What is the show like? Is it Shounen? Comedy? I probably won't watch it, but I'm curious about the series.

Comedy Shonen Action. Stars off slice of life comedy with the Katekyo (Home tutor) Hitman Reborn! training Tsuna to become the next leader of the Vongola Family. Pretty awesome, my favorite long running Shonen, Tsuna so awesome.

Hmm, I might check that out, actually. I'm not usually into long running series, since they take forever to catch up on, but I might give it a shot.

Does everyone typically watch opening sequences? I used to skip them, but then realized that people put quite a bit of work into them, so I've started watching them every episode. I'll occasionally watch credit sequences as well.

A lot of people used to skip them but then I guess the animators started realizing this, so often, Im noticing the ending sequences or opening sequences will start to switch up the images, sometimes telling ministories between them, like for one Im watching Kuroko's Basketball, each time the ending sequence plays it has different images

I personally usually never skip though.
