Post Pikmin 3

Can't believe there's no Pikmin 3 topic. Who's excited for this game? I am! I can't believe it's been 10 years since Pikmin 2 released. And now not much longer for Pikmin 3. It's out now in Japan, July 26th in Europe, and August 4th in the US. They're also holding a special event at select GameStop stores on July 20th and 21st where you can demo Pikmin 3, and if you pre-order the digital version of the game at GameStop that day, you'll be able to download it on Saturday, August 3rd... a day early!

My local store is having the event on the 21st, so I will try to stop by so I can get the digital version a day early. I'm definitely excited for this game. Visually, it looks great. But it also looks like a lot of fun. I'll probably have to play via Off-TV Play mostly, so I'm glad that feature is in. But hopefully I can get some play time on the TV with the Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk from time to time. Who else is going to get this game?

There is footage of Pikmin 3? I didn't think there was any real footage.

Well not in Nintendo Land persay; just a mini game of Pikman.

Online there's a bunch of Pikman 3 footage. Here's a trailer for it:

I'm just saying that if the gameplay is the same as it is in Nintendo Land's version of it in the mini game I'll probably pass. If not I might give it a try.

But Pikmin 3! I may not even get a WiiU. My brother might get me one for my Birthday(He is loaded--to a degree as least.).Pikmin might be my first WiiU game.

The Nintendo Land minigame is an overly simplified version of Pikmin, hardly comparable at all really.

Pikmin 3 looks like a lot of fun. There's lots of gameplay footage out there from many different trailers and videos. The game is out in Japan as well and many people have put up videos. It looks like a lot of fun, I can't wait for this game!

This is one of those games I may lean to a redbox and rent it to get a feel for it. I've been somewhat interested, just not sure how much I'll enjoy it. I must say I am giving Wonderful 101 a shot since I played the demo at the Wii U Experience last summer, and that seems to be kind of close to this. So I'm thinking I may want to at least try this one out. In terms of acquiring an older version (1 or 2), likely not going to happen since there's lots of other older games I still need to acquire.

Well if I can find a cheap Pikman game to pick up and try I'll try out one of the older ones before sinking $60 some dollars into the Pikman 3 release.

I'll be getting this when I get back to Idaho and my Wii U next week. It will be the first Wii U game I actually purchase for myself.

There's footage of lots of gameplay and even our own impressions both in blog and podcast formats on our site.

Anyhow, I'm hoping I have some time to play this, because I want to so bad!

Yea, I've been watching some gameplay videos and getting really excited. This game also looks great graphically. Nintendo may not usually have the most powerful hardware, but they sure know how to get the most out of what they have... and Pikmin 3 is not even close to Wii U's peak ability since it started as a Wii game.

I did play some Pikmin 2 this past weekend to get ready for this. Played some multiplayer with my cousins who were new to the series and they loved it. So I may be showing them Pikmin 3 this weekend and maybe playing some multiplayer with them as well. Can't wait!

I downloaded it at midnight. Took an hour to download, install, and also update. Not bad!

So far, I've played a bit over 4 hours of the game and I'm really liking it. Pikmin 1 had that limit of 30 in-game days to beat it, Pikmin 2 had no limit, and this one is somewhere in between. As long as you keep getting fruit in the game, you can keep playing, and the max number of days then if you had all the fruit is 100 days. But, you won't need that many and you can replay days now. I've found this to be a good balance... it's not stressful because your days are limited, but if you don't get like one or two fruit a day, then you know you might be going too slow. So thankfully, you can replay days. I've replayed some days a couple times just to make the most of the day.

The graphics are great. Nintendo may not go all out with power, but they sure as hell know how to get the most out of what they have. The controls with the Wii Remote/Nunchuk are great too of course, and using the GamePad as the map is nice too. I haven't tried playing only with the GamePad yet, since I heard the controls were a bit odd. But, I can say that after I downloaded it at midnight and played for a bit, I decided to "go to bed" so my parents wouldn't complain about me staying up to play games. But rather, I set up the GamePad on my bed and played on it via Off-TV Play using the Wii Remote/Nunchuk. So that was neat.

Played a bit of mission mode and man that is challenging to get full marks on, I didn't get close even though I thought I was doing well. Hopefully soon I can try mission mode co-op or the versus bingo battle mode. That should be fun. But yea, overall I'm really liking this. I'm on day 7 I believe in the game, and I think I have another boss coming up soon so I have to prepare for that. Lots and lots of strategy involved in this game, more than I thought. You really have to multitask which makes it interesting. Definitely a great game though, I highly recommend it!

I downloaded it yesterday...to quite a while to download and install but I don't have the fastest internet connection. Overall I'm extremely pleased with the game. I'm only on day 4.

Once I get back home to my WiiU, I'll be downloading most likely. I liked the first 2 Pikmin games ( especially Pikmin 2), so I' more than likely be getting Pikmin 3.
