 Re: E3 2012 - Nintendo Press Event
Iwata hinted this earlier, but now it's basically confirmed...
Tuesday, June 5th - 12 noon eastern time - Nintendo's Conference focusing on Wii U (though there may be some other stuff) Wednesday, June 6th - 9 pm eastern time - Software Showcase focusing completely on 3DS
We knew about the Software Showcase before and Iwata hinted 3DS stuff would be held until a later time so people speculated that's what the Software Showcase was about... now it's confirmed. Scott Moffitt, the Nintendo of America Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, will host this event and it will be live-streamed by Nintendo at e3.nintendo.com so you'll be able to see it live.

So is the 3DS stuff aired online too? I'm interested in that stuff as well as the Wii U stuff.

Well, that was boring.
EDIT: LEGO City looked incredible!

 Re: E3 2012 - Nintendo Press Event
LEGO City Undercover seemed nice but I may end up getting that on 3DS.
Kind of disappointed in the conference. Another year with an onslaught of games from mushroom kingdom was pretty annoying, four titles, really, and thats excluding the atrocious and dull Nintendo land.
I hated that time was spent on Batman Arkham City, a game which people have already experienced. Mass Effect 3 was a surprise but well people will be missing the other two games unless they have a PC.
Overall a dull conference, there were no megatons, and WII U doesnt seem next gen, really.

 Re: E3 2012 - Nintendo Press Event
I was rather underwhelmed, but it wasn't a terrible conference for me. Better than most of the other conferences, but that isn't saying much either.
Not much new... well sure there's Wii Fit U and SiNG... but those are expected things. We were expecting something to showcase Wii U and we got Nintendo Land, which looks interesting... but they spent too much time on some of that. They made that one Luigi minigame really confusing. Personally, I need single player or online play... don't have much opportunities for local multiplayer, so in that regard this was underwhelming (unless you can play with computer players).
The third party stuff was okay, nothing special. Again, I felt they took too long on some of this stuff. Mass Effect 3 was a bit of a megaton, but it was breezed over. They also spent too much time talking about Nintendo Direct and all the different presentations they have... we get it, spend time on the actual presentation.
In terms of the actual content... the 3DS stuff was nice. We'll get more info on that later. I'm not big on Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion hasn't caught my interest yet, but I'm looking forward to more info on NSMB2. But where is Animal Crossing?! That disappointed me, as that's my most anticipated 3DS title right now. New Super Mario Bros U was interesting though. Nice to also see various apps like YouTube. Plus, confirmation of two GamePads being supported. The highlights for me were Pikmin 3 and Lego City Undercover. Pikmin 3 looks fantastic! Glad to see they didn't abandon pointer controls, also. And Lego City Undercover surprised me, that looked really good as well.
And Nintendo just mentioned Platinum Games is releasing a title tentatively called Project P-100 and they also have a game called Game & Wario, both in the launch window. Now those are megaton type stuff! And we're getting more details on Miiverse later today. So I think it's important to take a look at everything Nintendo has at E3, they made it pretty clear today that it's about this whole week. So combine Nintendo Direct, this conference, the developer roundtable, and the 3DS showcase... and that is amazing stuff. This conference on its own was nothing that special, but all together Nintendo has a great E3 showing.

 Re: E3 2012 - Nintendo Press Event
I was mostly impressed with the conference. I wasn't aware of the software demo stuff tomorrow, so it's nice to plan to watch that.
When they were first talking about Nintendoland, I almost thought it was a real theme park announcement. To me, the game seems interesting. I might be wrong, but I thought they briefly discussed it being able to play solo, or even online. It's in the maybe stack depending on further news.
Luigi's Mansion and Paper Mario looked awesome. It was great to hear those are on schedule for this year. Also with NSMB 2 hitting on my birthday was awesome news as well.
Legocity looked pretty sweet, might end up getting that one. New Super Mario Brothers U looked decent, the 3DS one looked better; but I'll definitely be picking it up.
This will be a busy holiday time. All those launch games and some 3DS games... yikes. Better finish up Skyward Sword, Kid Icarus Uprising, and Mario Tennis Open!

Even if that German Mass Effect Facebook page did hint at it.

If they wanted a true megaton for Wii U...well the wrpg of choice ought to have been Skyrim.

 Re: E3 2012 - Nintendo Press Event
The Wii U news was all terribly boring, glad nothing tempted me to even considering buying one, ever.
The 3DS news was just a bunch of old stuff, but I'm still excited for Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion, and yet another Mario. Although that is kind of an overload on Mario stuff (which is basically all I own on my 3DS anyway...).
Come on, what about a new Zelda for the DS?? Or a new IP??

I have a feeling that was pushed for tomorrow. I think they felt obligated to update on the titles already there with a few new third party titles just to have 3DS stuff there. I thought Nintendo said they are working on a new IP?

There is obviously a new Zelda in the works. There is more stuff out there... just not launch window. Now, I do think launch would be a good time for a new IP... but seems Nintendo doesn't think so. They have to be working on some new IP, it's just not coming at launch.

 Re: E3 2012 - Nintendo Press Event
Well I didn't watch it I was working all day but I just read through all your posts and I agree with the underwhelming sentiment. Mass Effect 3 on Wii U seems cool, I've only played through the first one on PC and was going to download the second one. I'll probably hold off and get the third for Wii U. I feel like the whole battle system in Mass Effect could be executed decently on the Wii U and I'd like to have a title on the Wii U that interests me at launch. I'm really hoping for some info on Zelda 3DS. It's nice to see some Paper Mario and Luigi's Mansion info as well but other than that not too much caught my eye. I'll have to look into everything more later.

 Re: E3 2012 - Nintendo Press Event
So for tonight, is it only 3DS stuff? Or does anyone think it will focus mostly on 3DS and have a few additional Wii U titles (opposite of yesterday)?

I'm hoping for Animal Crossing 3DS! But realistically, after Nintendo's conference, I think we're only going to get info on the 3DS titles they mentioned at the conference.

 Re: E3 2012 - Nintendo Press Event
So it was basically as I expected... only with a stealth Twitter reveal (because Reggie accidentally revealed it after the 3DS software showcase to some people) of Fire Emblem: Awakening coming to the US.
I think the reasoning for everything regarding Nintendo this year is pretty clear now... they're focusing on only the rest of this year. There is obviously more in the works planned for 2013 and beyond, but for whatever reason Nintendo wants to exclusively focus on the immediate future. I think that's what made things disappointing, but that's the reality now. That's why there is Nintendo Direct. Constant streams of information throughout the year, not talking far into the future anymore.

I love console games, but I am also open to browser games such as evony, age of empires. Even I recently play a game called Tynon, which turns out to be a great attempt to combine all genres.
