At the Samsung CES keynote, Microsoft unveiled a Microsoft Research Project they have called "Illumiroom". It uses a Kinect to scan the room you're in, and then the projector displays images around your TV. It basically is a neat way to "extend" your TV display with lights and images around your room. Sounds kind of odd... but watch the video above. It looks really cool in execution IMO. Microsoft claims the video was real time and not just a concept. The Verge claims Microsoft will show more of this in April, so maybe this is more than just a prototype. Who knows. I'm definitely intrigued though... if this works well in practice, it could be really cool. But Kinect also looked neat in concept and didn't turn out as good, so we'll see.

Seems interesting may look into it further once more details are known.
