The Wii U issued in a new way to connect. Out with the Friend Codes and in with the Nintendo Network ID. You can put your ID in your profile, but as we have also done with our 3DS Friend Codes, here is a thread to post your ID, and we will compile them into this initial post.

Think I should use hattrick or something else? I use that for online stuff, but other things, I go with my real name. I realize they probably won't allow/suggest using a full name, but maybe my first name... I dunno. Maybe I'm overthinking this, but if they don't allow changing your name, you are stuck with this forever, kind of like my MyNintendo (now Club Nintendo) account. Wish I could go back and change it but it's too late.

Well when creating your Nintendo Network ID, you have to add your real name, DOB, email, and stuff.

I'm gonna use DarkWish as my Nintendo Network ID. Just gonna keep it simple since my gaming related stuff is usually with that username (aside from using my name in the podcast and everything, but that's for professional purposes).

EDIT: And by the way, it's been confirmed from screenshots and stuff... it's an ID like any other, so it's basically just a username you can set. Letters and probably numbers as well, if you want (I did see examples without numbers). And yes, you get to set it.

Since we can have 12 accounts, I might make one for Gamer Greg and the other I might use... then might have a 3rd if I can come up for something better. That way, those are reserved and taken. Maybe I might cross play the accounts too.

I thought about creating more than one account, but then I realized that would get just as annoying as having more than one email account, which I mostly despise.

Is there a guest account?

Not sure, I'm guessing not. Although you could probably name it "Guest" and assign it an email that you don't use.

A "User Account" and a "Nintendo Network ID" are not the same thing I don't think. Each Wii U can have up to 12 user accounts I believe. This is tied to a Mii you choose. You can then link a user account to a Nintendo Network ID if you want. If you find a screenshot of setting up a user account on Wii U, you'll see they have Nintendo Network icons next to the Mii's... that means those user accounts are linked to a Nintendo Network ID.

I guess what I'm getting at here is you only need an email and all that for a Nintendo Network ID. So technically I suppose you could create a "Guest" Mii and create a user account with it, and not worry about linking it to a Nintendo Network ID.

At least, that's how I understand it works.

When I turn on my Wii U today, most definitely.

I already did some Wii U chats, one with DarkWish and one with my buddy who just got his console yesterday.

Sweet. This Wii U community is coming together nicely......so far I love it.

I have very slow internet, so I am going to download the update tonight while I sleep. Then, tomorrow morning I will set up my Nintendo Network ID. So far, I have set up my Mii (which I don't care for, I can't get the goatee right....) and I looked at NintendoLand. I just went through the initial intro by the park guide and it showed me the attractions. I will check it out later. I am eager to check out everything, but I'm going to have to be patient. I will post back asap with ID info.
