Yup, Colbie Smulders plays SHIELD Agent Maria Hill.

On another Avengers-related note... the recent character posters have now been put online in very high quality and without any text on them. Plus, we also have that image from the Japanese ad in good quality poster form. Check them out, they're awesome: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=56381

Time for another round of The Avengers news...

Here's some pretty awesome concept art of the Avengers team:
Hidden (Non-Spoiler): show

Next are some new banners for the movie that look pretty awesome. Each feature two characters: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=56447. And then here are some super high quality versions of those banners without any logos or anything on them: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=56535.

Here is a bunch of promotional stuff (things like Dr. Pepper cans and bedsheets): http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=56422

Some new images of Loki from trading cards: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=56696. And more images of other characters from other trading cards: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=56712. Oh, and even more trading cards: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=56844.

And there's also this trading card which is rather interesting here: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=56727. Seems to be a flashback to WWII times like during Captain America's movie. Thing is, that scene wasn't in the Captain America movie. So it's very possible we will get a WWII flashback in The Avengers. Some people have suggested the opening credits will contain flashbacks to things from previous movies so maybe that's where this fits in.

And we have some new official stills from the movie released: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=56648. And even more official stills: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=56891.

The final bit of news is related to Thor 2. A casting call has confirmed some information on the movie. Stellan Skarsgard will indeed return in the movie. He played Dr. Selvig in Thor and will be in The Avengers as well. Also, Kenneth Branagh will return but this time as a Producer, rather than Director. Most of the filming will be done in England, with some filming in LA as well.

Post Re: The Avengers Live Action Universe (Marvel Studios)
Awesome update today!

First let's start off with some Captain America 2 news. Seems like the director of the first movie is not returning, and insiders are reporting that a field of ten directors has been narrowed down to just three. They are George Nolfi, F. Gary Gary, and Anthony and Joseph Russo. Nolfi directed The Adjustment Bureau and F. Gary Gary directed The Italian Job. But Anthony and Joseph Russo? They've worked on Community, Arrested Development, and Happy Endings. Apparently in meetings with Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, they jived together really well. They'd be an interesting choice if they were picked. Honestly, I don't care which one is picked... as long as it works out with Marvel. So whoever they pick is fine with me. If all goes to plan, meetings are being scheduled early April and we could have a decision possibly around mid-April or so.

Okay, now it's time for more stuff on The Avengers. Here are some cool t-shirts: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57134

The UK website has been updated with characters banners and bios. I believe almost all of this is old stuff, but if you missed it before, here it is: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57135

Joss Whedon talked a bit about how he approached creating this universe in regards to sequels and others movies after The Avengers, which I found was interesting. You can read that here: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57146

And now... TWO NEW TV SPOTS!!!

The first is one from Brazil, but it's in English. Check it out:

The TV Spot features Nick Fury talking to Loki, and Tony Stark doing a head count of the team to Loki, complete with a bunch of new shots.

But you know what's even cooler than that? The US got our own version of this "head count" TV Spot that features even more new footage and it's awesome! Check it out:

This one features more dialogue between Stark and Loki, with more cool new footage, especially a close-up shot of one of the alien's faces and more awesome Hulk action!

Can't wait for this movie!!!!

Post Re: The Avengers Live Action Universe (Marvel Studios)
So in the past week and a half or so since my last update in this thread, there has been a MASSIVE amount of new stuff! So let's get right into all the awesomeness...

First up is this fun little ad from Target for Avengers toys, showing kids dressed up as the Avengers. I thought it was cute, check it out here: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57228

And now for some tidbits on Black Widow:
Spoiler: show
Apparently, we shall get a hint of her back-story in this movie and "it isn't pretty".

As for her opening scene in the movie... she is tied to a chair and is being roughed up by some thugs who are interrogating her and you think that she can’t possibly get out of this situation. A cell phone rings and Black Widow gets on the phone and says, ‘I’m interrogating someone.’ It’s completely the opposite of what is going on and she hangs up the phone and takes care of business.

Wondering how Thor gets to Earth? Well wonder no more:
Spoiler: show
Thor has conveniently come back to earth briefly because Odin summons dark powers from the universe and it’s very costly. He’s come back to retrieve Loki, who’s running madness on Earth and causing a lot of chaos. He also has some questions of his own he wants answered like, ‘How did this happen and where did I and my brother go wrong?'

What about the Hulk, where is he at when the movie starts?
Spoiler: show
Mark Ruffalo said, "Joss and I thought it would be cool if we found Banner at a leprosy colony in India where there’s so much suffering that it would be almost impossible to get angry at anything in life that would bring on the transformation into The Hulk."

Want to know a matchup that we'll see in the movie that many people wanted? Who shall the Hulk face?
Spoiler: show
There will indeed be a fight between Hulk and Thor... no idea how long or how significant or why, but it will happen.

Now it's time for a set report with a bunch of cool new details. Check it out: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57308. Lots of cool new tidbits in there.

Want details on the fight between Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man? Check it out: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57285

Here's a new poster, this one featuring Agent Coulson: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57343

And here are a bunch of new character wallpapers, one for each of the characters, and they're pretty sweet. Check it out: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57386

Here are even more character promo images! Check them out: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57448

These are some awesome desktop backgrounds featuring the Avengers team, really cool stuff: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57427

We also have track samples for the score for The Avengers. Pretty cool from what I've heard, but I want to hear more to make a better judgement. Check it out: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57445

Here's The Avengers team on the cover of a spanish magazine: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57686

Here's a new still from the movie featuring Captain America: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57468

And a new still of Hulk from the movie that looks AMAZING: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57478. Here's a higher quality version of that still, along with images of various Avengers-related marketing deals: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57624

Another cool new still of the Hulk: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57820

We also have a bunch of new stills, including new looks at Loki, Iron Man, the Quinjet, and more: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57717

Even more new stills, this time of Iron Man, Hawkeye, the Cosmic Cube, and more: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57801

And even more awesome new stills here: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57826

And here's another NEW TV SPOT, this one called "Suit Up", check it out: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57692

Yup, you guessed it... check out this NEW TV SPOT called "Isolation": http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57699

Next up is ANOTHER NEW TV SPOT! This is an extended one minute TV Spot that focuses on Captain America. Check it out: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57369

And we have ANOTHER NEW TV SPOT! This is also one minute long and features Thor. Check it out: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57741

We've gotten minute long TV Spots for Captain America and Thor now, so I'd expect to see more of the other characters in the future as well.

We also have three clips of the movie so far. The first is Nick Fury talking to Maria Hill, check it out: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57654. The second is of Black Widow's opening scene, but I don't have a link to that at the moment. It's pretty easy to find though. And third is a clip of Tony and Loki talking which I really like, the dialogue is great... check it out: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57730

And here's 20 minutes of B-Roll footage from the movie (obviously beware of SPOILERS): http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/ ... s/?a=57814. I haven't gotten to watch it yet, but looking forward to it.

Finally, let's get into some post-Avengers stuff. Kevin Feige, President of Marvel, has seemed to hint that the next wave of Marvel movies leads up to 2015... so is that when Avengers 2 is coming? Not confirmed, but Feige did say 2-3 years is usually what makes most sense. As for the sequels coming, don't expect any Avengers to appear in Iron Man 3 (aside from Black Widow of course). Iron Man 3, "while it does not avoid any references to The Avengers", is very much about Tony back in his own world dealing with his own issues. It's not that this kind of thing won't happen down the line, but with Iron Man 3, it's not.

Oh, and by the way, we have a villain for Iron Man 3. Ben Kingsley will be the villain in the movie, but who will he play? There is some talk about him playing the Mandarin, with some sources claiming no and others claiming it's possible. What we do know however is that Iron Man 3 will be loosely based on Warren Ellis' "Extremis", and Kingsley is set to play a role that revolves around the spread of a virus through nanobots. However a casting call reveals they're looking for extras of Chinese and Middle Eastern descent. So it seems most likely Kingsley will play the Mandarin, but that's still not confirmed yet.

As for a Captain America sequel, they say that's when SHIELD would be most relevant. Thor has nine worlds to traverse and many supporting players, and then Iron Man has his supporting cast... but Steve Rogers is in the modern world and SHIELD is basically his anchor to the modern world. Speaking of the Captain America sequel, the director shortlist has been shortened. F. Gary Gray is not in the running anymore. The movie's release date has also been announced as April 4th, 2014, and it will continue where The Avengers leaves off.

And finally, I wanted to end back on The Avengers. The world premiere of the movie happened yesterday. Early screening reports are coming in, and while things are embargoed, some tidbits have come out. Most people seemed to say the third act of the movie was really good especially, and also that even with all the footage we've seen, there are still lots of surprises. I've been searching around for leaks, and I have some BIG SPOILERS (some of this isn't confirmed, but seems to fit):
Spoiler: show
- There is apparently a major character tragedy. Based on what we know from filming, two most likely candidates are either SHIELD Agent Maria Hill or SHIELD Agent Phil Coulson. Unconfirmed, but I'm seeing some people claim it's Agent Coulson that dies.
- Loki gets an alien army in the movie as we know, but what we don't know is who is the master of this alien army... that is indeed revealed in the movie.
- Unconfirmed: Multiple reports are the aliens in the movie are the Chitauri.
- Unconfirmed: The end credits scene shows a villain that gives Loki his army. He is CGI and also appears immediately early on in the movie, so the end credits tease isn't about his reveal since he's already shown. What is even more unconfirmed are reports this villain is Thanos.
- Unconfirmed: The big flying serpent thing is unnamed, it's simply a weapon Loki has with the army, nothing more.

So yea, LOTS of AWESOME stuff! I can't wait for this movie, it's gonna be amazing!

So Soundgarden's new single Live to Rise is free on iTunes, I only put it in this thread because it's on the Avengers soundtrack and it's a promotion for the album.

I second this, definitely check it out... it is free after all!

Anyways, there has been a bunch of stuff the past few weeks but I'm not gonna get into all that. No need now with The Avengers just two days away (and already out in some parts of the world). What I will say is that for those in the US at least, there are TWO bonus scenes for the movie. There is something mid-credits that everyone around the world got, and then there is a fun post-credits thing added at the very last second (it was filmed the night of the movie's world premiere). So keep an eye out for both!

There has been news on the other movies post-Avengers and what to expect, but I'll wait for The Avengers and analyze that, and then I'll post more about what's coming in the future. Can't wait for the movie!

Post Re: The Avengers Live Action Universe (Marvel Studios)
So I saw the movie on Friday, but I'm just now getting a chance to type out all my thoughts. Let me just say that I had high expectations and they were all not only met, but exceeded! Best super hero movie ever and one of my favorite movies of all time for me. Honestly, for me, it was perfect. I've been thinking over and over about what, if anything, I would change about the movie... and nothing comes to mind. The movie flowed really well, it has funny, had tons of action, and most importantly the characters were the same from their individual movies and they all grew as characters throughout the movie and all of them were important. This is truly a team super hero movie. Every member had some role in this.

Now for my detailed thoughts (MAJOR SPOILERS):
Spoiler: show
Man, where do I begin? I loved that it all felt so natural. Each character had a legitimate reason for getting involved and their fight with Loki got personal for each person. Tony Stark was his usual self, but I loved that that caused tension at first amongst the group. One of the best scenes was with them all arguing in the lab, it was just great to see that kind of interaction. And them all coming together at the end made sense. Captain America arguing with Stark was great, they had some cool scenes like that. And then by the end, it was so awesome seeing Cap take charge as he should since he's the leader.

Thor's parts were great as well, we got more interaction between him and Loki that showed some growth from the Thor movie, with some interesting parallels (the line about starting war and then Thor saying "so be it" was basically straight out of the Thor movie). And it was great seeing him feel guilty about what happened when he came to Earth, I think that helped further his character and made it interesting. And then there's the Hulk... holy crap. BEST HULK EVER! Okay, so I've never seen that old Ang Lee Hulk movie (and I don't care to as it's not a part of this continuity). But I liked Norton's Hulk in The Incredible Hulk. He had so many dimensions... he was smart, but reserved, and always had that sort of tortured feel to him like he had been through a lot.

Mark Ruffalo IMO did a fantastic job as Bruce Banner. I could see some similarities with the way Norton portrayed Banner, like in his manner of speaking and in that regard, it made the transition of actors much easier to believe for me. But Ruffalo took it further and his Banner seemed weary and tired, which was perfect. I loved his interactions with the cast, like how he got along well with Tony Stark. And when he became the Hulk... holy smokes did he do it justice. The two scenes that got the biggest audience response in the theater were Hulk randomly punching Thor, and then Hulk throwing Loki around like a ragdoll. Simply AWESOME!

But that's not the entire team... there's also Hawkeye and Black Widow. We had only seen Hawkeye as a brief cameo in Thor and this time around, we didn't get to see too much of his character because he was evil, but what we did see was pretty cool. His scenes in the fights were great and there were times when he was doing things like taking children out of buses, things that other members of the team were too busy to do. It helped show the team aspect. And with Black Widow, while we had seen her in Iron Man 2, we didn't know much about her character and personality. This time around, we got an idea of that. Twice we saw her in seemingly vulnerable positions, and both times she surprised us with her skills. The first was in the opening where she was seemingly being interrogated, but in reality she was getting information and then proceeded to kick some serious butt. And then a really good scene with Loki, with him seemingly manipulating her and scaring the crap out of her forcing her to tears... only to find out she was getting info from him and succeeded.

So each character held their own, but together is when it all really shined. One aspect of that was that this movie was hilarious at times. Things like when someone talked smack about Loki, Thor got mad and said he's his brother. Then Black Widow says he killed a bunch of people and Thor goes "he's adopted". You also have all those clever lines that Stark throws out all the time. Just lots of great lines in this movie, the dialogue was awesome to hear. Another character that has some great lines is Agent Phil Coulson.... who unfortunately dies in this movie. In a way it makes sense... he was the link connecting the previous movies together and now that the team has assembled, he's not needed as much. But it does suck because he was a fan favorite and now he's gone (though some people still hold hope that he's alive based on how manipulative Nick Fury is).

But in the end, the movie all came down to the big major battle... and holy crap did it deliver. There have been times in most of the other Marvel movies where the action was great, but it always fell a bit flat. This time, there is none of that feeling whatsoever. They deliver on the action. You can really tell the stakes are high and the characters all take beatings. You really get the sense that, if we didn't know they were making sequels to these movies, some of the characters may die. Especially when Iron Man almost dies, even though we know Iron Man 3 is next... you still got the sense that this battle took a lot from them and it was a big deal.

I guess I should comment on the villains. Loki was awesome. I thought they continued his character from the Thor movie well. He's not the strongest villain of course, but he is most definitely manipulative and we see him do that with all the characters. He successfully controls Hawkeye, he has his dialogues with Stark and Black Widow, and he even stands up to the Hulk (only to get beaten up badly). His army known as the Chitauri was interesting. Especially those gigantic ship things, those looked pretty crazy. I'm glad the Chitauri weren't anything that special though. This movie's focus was on the team. Even with Loki as a villain, he made the fight personal, which in turn made the movie further about the team. This was an origin story for The Avengers. So I was very happy with Loki as the villain and the Chitauri army served its purpose.

It's hard for me to pick a favorite part of the movie. The Hulk had some of the best moments, but I also loved all the arguments between the team at first, and there were just so many great parts. But I think my two favorite parts have to do with the team assembling together. The first was shown in trailers with the camera circling around the team... that was when they first got together as a team and I thought "hell yea, this is it". After all they went through in 5 previous movies and all the tension in this movie leading up to that moment... it felt awesome to see that. And then the other part is the one long shot of the team battling. Starting from Black Widow to Iron Man flying around, to Iron Man shooting a laser blast and reflecting it off of Captain America's shield, to Hawkeye on a building shooting an arrow, to the Hulk and Thor beating up some baddies (with a great part where Hulk takes something and jams it into the big alien ship thing and then Thor hammers it in). That was just IMMENSELY satisfying to see on screen... you felt the scale of the battle and you saw the team actually working as a team in an amazing action sequence. Very cool!

But now The Avengers is over. Now it's time for the next phase. Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Captain America 2, and whatever other new stuff comes our way... leading up to the inevitable The Avengers 2 a few years down the road. And man will that be epic. The mid-credits scene revealed Loki got the Chitauri army from Thanos. Apparently Thanos is like the big bad of the Marvel universe. Like, he's incredibly overpowered and when he shows up, you just know stuff is going down. So I'm very excited to see where they go from here. They have a solid universe created and it will be fantastic to explore more of it, I am very excited. Right now I'm probably gonna try to see the movie again and then try and process it all cause it's been so amazing. And then it's time to get ready for part 2 of this whole thing as we get ready for the next round of movies.

Oh, and one more thing... the other bonus scene at the end of all the credits was freaing hilarious! Just the whole team for like half a minute eating shawarma, no dialogue. That was what was filmed the night of the world premiere, and I thought that was awesome.

So yea, I was very, very happy with this movie. Anyone else see it and what did you think?

I'm hoping they use Samuel Sterns in another movie. They left it so open ended with what they could do with him. Would seem like a wast not to go anywhere with that.

Post Re: The Avengers Live Action Universe (Marvel Studios)
So it's been a long time since my last update. We've gotten plenty of details on Iron Man 3, but it was just a lot to keep track of and continue to post here honestly. Closer to release, I'll start posting more stuff on it.

But for now, I came upon a rumored outline (found on this podcast here) of the next few Marvel Studios movies. Keep in mind, these are RUMORS from an insider... however, what is being said fits very well with all the hints and rumors we've heard the past few months and it all makes sense. So, remember these are potential SPOILERS if they're true. I believe them to be true since they make sense, however keep in mind much of this could very easily change. Anyways, here is all the info:

Spoiler: show
Next year, we have two movies: Iron Man 3 and Thor 2. Let's start with Iron Man 3. I won't get into all the details we know, but here is some of the stuff. Much of the cast will return, but not all. Pepper Potts, Happy Hogan, War Machine... they're back (and war Machine has some new patriotic armor from what we've seen on set, at least for a brief moment in the movie). Apparently no Justin Hammer or Black Widow. The villain is Ben Kingsley as we know, playing the Mandarin... however a different version than the comics and Mandarin is a code name in the movie. Like with the previous Iron Man movies, SHIELD will indeed have a presence. There were plans to introduce another SHIELD agent who would be like agent Coulson... however that didn't work out, so instead agent Maria Hill (seen in The Avengers) will fill that role and appear in Iron Man 3. Another rumor is that Andy Lau will play a different version of the character Radioactive Man from the comics (likely not going to use that name in the movie), who will apparently be a SHIELD agent rather than a villain.

Next we have RUMORS of the post-credits scene for Iron Man 3. If this is true, it's quite interesting. The teases in Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk were related to The Avengers... however, the next few movies (Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger) all teased the next movie after them. If the rumors are true, the Iron Man 3 post-credits scene will tease a future movie, not the next one (which is Thor 2). As I mentioned earlier, Andy Lau will play a SHIELD agent based on Radioactive Man from the comics. Well, this post credits scene apparently involves that character along with Ant-Man. The plan is that the Ant-Man movie won't release until 2014, but Edgar Wright (who is directing it) will film the post-credits tease this year so they can get that set up. Wright did recently hint at filming this year and there have been tons of hints that Ant-Man is happening very soon. So this is all very plausible.

But that's in the future... after Iron Man 3 is Thor 2, also next year in 2013. The entire cast of the first movie shall return supposedly, with the exception of Kat Dennings' character. The plot here is that Thor is much more of a ruler in this movie in Asgard, and the villains are really going to be testing him. Asgard will face threats, as well as Jane Foster (Natalie Portman returns) on Earth. So Thor will have to deal with all of that. Who are the villains? Supposedly, they are the Executioner (played by Mads Mikkelson) and the Enchantress (the rumored frontrunners are Alice Eve and Brit Marling). And yes, Loki and the Warriors Three and all the others will return in this movie as well, though no word on what their roles in all of this will be.

But the biggest piece of news on Thor 2 is not any of that. There have been many characters from the comics being tossed around as potential movies in the cinematic universe... but the question is, which ones deserve their own movies? One of those characters is Dr. Strange, and these rumors suggest he won't be getting his own movie, but instead will debut in Thor 2. The idea is that Dr. Steven Strange is a colleague of Jane Foster. In Odin's vault, as seen in the first movie, there is a treasure there known as the Eye of Agamotto... which in the comics apparently gives Dr. Strange his powers. So the thought is that will somehow come down to Earth and Dr. Strange will get this powers that way. What is interesting is that this is NOT being planned as a cameo like Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye in Thor. No, this is being planned as a major supporting role in Thor 2, with Dr. Strange helping Thor out in the movie... his character will supposedly be in all three acts of the movie.

So that's what they have planned for 2013 so far. The Iron Man 3 stuff is being filmed now, with Thor 2 filming later this year. Now as we venture on, these rumors become even more less concrete, simply for the fact that it's not set in stone just yet and things can very easily change. So with that in mind, let's continue on to Captain America 2, set for a 2014 release. There was an idea to introduce the Punisher into the cinematic universe, however that was dropped. Instead, this movie will be set in the present day after the events of The Avengers, with possibly flashbacks to the WWII era. Who are the villains? Supposedly, they are Arnim Zola (returning from the first movie), Winter Soldier (Bucky resurrected), and a Russian terror group that may or may not be related to HYDRA. At least, those are the ideas being tossed around at this point.

But what is more interesting, at least to me, is who else will be in the movie. We already know that SHIELD will play a big role in this movie, especially since it continues from after The Avengers on Earth. The rumors suggest that we shall be seeing the return of Nick Fury, Black Widow, and Hawkeye. An idea being tossed around is showing more of Nick Fury's origin with flashbacks that may include General Ross from The Incredible Hulk (yes, Marvel is keen on keeping the continuity with that movie despite Edward Norton as Bruce Banner). And there is word of a possible romance between Black Widow and Hawkeye. The comics also had a character named Sharon Carter who was a SHIELD agent and a relative of Peggy Carter, Captain America's love interest in the WWII era... I believe he ended up falling in love with Sharon Carter in the present day. Something like that. Anyways, there are talks to get Hayley Atwell back... but instead of Peggy Carter, she'd play Sharon Carter. Very intriguing.

Again, these are ideas and things aren't set in stone yet so they could change. The other 2014 movie, as I mentioned earlier, is Ant-Man. Edgar Wright will direct this. We don't know much, other than it will also debut the character The Wasp supposedly. And with that, we come to 2015. Marvel's idea is to maybe have two movies in 2015, one of which is The Avengers 2. But they want to have another movie before that to lead up to it. There are multiple ideas being thrown around at this point... one is a Black Panther movie, and another is a Heroes for Hire film (that would introduce Luke Cage). Nothing is set yet though, remember.

But the idea that supposedly is being discussed the most at this point is another Hulk movie. The plot would involve General Ross (which Marvel wants to bring back William Hurt for) putting together a team led by Black Panther to take down Bruce Banner. So this would mean they could introduce Black Panther and give his origin in this Hulk movie, without giving him his own film. Kind of like with Dr. Strange in Thor 2. The villain would be the Leader, as hinted at in the end of The Incredible Hulk. Joss Whedon has expressed interest in co-writing the script with Drew Goddard, who would direct the movie. This is all extremely early though, so this could all very easily change.

But this all leads up to The Avengers 2, which is planned as the second film in 2015, though it could be pushed to 2016. Joss Whedon may direct this one again. Apparently, Marvel is keen on having the following characters added to the roster: Ant-Man, Wasp, Dr. Strange, and either Black Panther OR Luke Cage. If things go as it stands now, we'd have Ant-Man teased after Iron Man 3 next year, Dr. Strange introduced in Thor 2 next year, Wasp introduced and Ant-Man getting a proper debut in his own movie in 2014, followed by a 2015 pre-Avengers 2 movie introducing Black Panther OR Luke Cage either in their own movies or in a new Hulk movie.

It all sounds great to me. These characters are the most likely to join the cast, as has been hinted. And it does make sense as they add more diversity to the Avengers team. So if it's true, the Avengers will consist of Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, Wasp, Dr. Strange, and either Black Panther or Luke Cage... and heck, maybe even War Machine might join in the fun. That's around 10 or 11 characters which is going to be insane. In a good way of course. Can't wait!

So I'll keep track of all the latest on the cinematic universe, but I wanted to share this rumor is really points out where we stand with certain movies. It all sounds very awesome to me and I can't wait for more info!

Post Re: The Avengers Live Action Universe (Marvel Studios)
Just as soon as we get those massive rumors I posted... we now get another big rumor that, if true, goes against the other big rumors.

Latino Review is reporting that the second 2014 movie won't be Ant-Man as the previous rumor suggested, but it will be Guardians of the Galaxy. How true is this rumor? Well, it's sort of mixed. One thing that could lead to it being true is a bunch of trademarks for Guardians of the Galaxy merchandise made recently. On the other hand, Latino Review recently reported that Black Panther would be the second 2014 movie, which they're now changing their stance on. Then again, they were right about Thanos being in The Avengers. So it's kind of mixed here in terms of reliability. But anyways, let's get to the actual rumor...

Latino Review claims that the plot of Guardians of the Galaxy will see the team visit Earth during the 20th or 21st century with the use of time trave in order to meet with The Avengers and take on some aliens. Apparently this movie will lead up to The Avengers 2 in 2015. Oh, and the Guardians of the Galaxy movie will have Thanos in it. They also expect we'll see Nova, whoever that is... I'm not familiar with that comic character.

Supposedly they'll be making an official announcement on this at next month's San Diego Comic-Con so not much longer until we get an official confirmation one way or another. If this is true, I wonder what it means for all the other movies since this would basically debunk the other massive rumors I posted the other day. Very interesting...

--------------

UPDATE: It's CONFIRMED!

Variety is now reporting that Guardians of the Galaxy will release on May 16th, 2014. The team will travel back in time from the 31st century in order to help battle the Badoon, an evil alien race that attempts to conquer Earth's solar system. The script has been written by Nicole Perlman. Apparently Marvel Studios has prioritized this movie over Black Panther, though they are said to still be working on Ant-Man, Dr. Strange and The Inhumans... and of course The Avengers 2 in 2015. Very interesting stuff.

Post Re: The Avengers Live Action Universe (Marvel Studios)
For those that have been buying the blu-rays of these movies, you'll know about the Marvel One-Shot videos, which are basically short videos that fit into this cinematic universe. The first was "The Consultant" which was a part of the Thor blu-ray. It featured Agent Coulson and explained the Tony Stark cameo at the end of The Incredible Hulk. The second was "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Thor's Hammer" and was with the Captain America blu-ray. It featured Agent Coulson kicking some butt. Now with The Avengers coming to blu-ray on September 25th, there's a new Marvel One-Shot coming entitled "Item 47". It'll be screened at the San Diego Comic-Con coming up, but we have some details on it.

Here's a picture from it:
Hidden (Non-Spoiler): show

So what is item 47? It's one of the guns from the Chitauri in The Avengers. This short film takes place after The Avengers and features a couple named Claire (played by Lizzy Caplan) and Benny (played by Jesse Bradford) who find one of the Chitauri's guns and proceed to make some very negative decisions with it that they think could better their lives. Two SHIELD agents (played by Maximiliano Hernandez who was in Thor and The Avengers, and Titus Welliver who you may know as Lost's Man in Black) have the assignment of stopping the crimes committed by Benny and Claire and retrieving the Chitauri weapon... which SHIELD is calling Item 47. This short film is said to be on a much bigger scale. The previous two featured Agent Coulson and were only about 5 minutes long... this one will be almost 12 minutes long.

Next we have the first concept art from Iron Man 3:
Hidden (Non-Spoiler): show

Not sure what's going on in that art, but it looks interesting! And finally, on the subject of Guardians of the Galaxy... it seems the release date of May 16th, 2014 has been pushed back to August 1st, 2014.

Post Re: The Avengers Live Action Universe (Marvel Studios)

First up, let's talk Iron Man 3. They revealed the new armor from the movie:

The official Iron Man 3 site is now open as well, you can view it here: http://marvel.com/ironman3. That link only shows the following version of the Iron Man 3 logo at the moment:

They also showed off some footage from Iron Man 3. Here's a summary:
Spoiler: show
We begin in Tony Stark's lab. He's talking to "dummy" (that robot arm that never does anything right) and his suits of armor, telling them he's about to introduce them to their bad*** baby brother. He asks Dummy to play some seasonal music and he turns on a techno version of Jingle Bells. Stark stands, posing and flexing. Suddenly a piece of armor shoots across the room. One by one, his armor form, flying at him as he wills it to. One hits his crotch, through, and he doubles over. Another slams into his back and he falls, but jet-propels himself back up.

The last piece is the faceplate and, as it comes at him, he flips, propeling himself off the crowd with one hand upside down while the mask comes on. We see another scene with Favreau as Happy talking to Stark through a video chat. "You can't talk to me like that," he tells Stark good humoredly, "I don't work for you anymore.""That's because you quit!" says Stark. He says he can't deal with Stark being off with the Superfriends these days. We see a bunch of footage, including The Iron Patriot armor, which is confirmed to be a new look for War Machine.

"Some people call me a terrorist," says a voice (which is Ben Kingsley) "I consider myself a teacher. Lesson number one: There is no such thing as heroes." Another voice-over says, "As you cry out for mercy, you will be silenced." We see a bunch of helicopters firing on Stark's house, blowing it off the edge of the cliff. Inside, every suit of armor is destroyed. Iron Man falls into the ocean as wreckage comes down on top of him. Cut to Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin. It's the costume from the comic almost exactly. The footage ends and they're even calling him the Mandarin now. Mandarin is wearing at least four rings.

Sounds awesome! Confirms that the Mandarin is indeed the villain. Next two movies are Thor 2 and Captain America 2, which now have new official titles. Thor: The Dark World is currently filming in London, directed by Alan Taylor. That's all on that. Then is Captain America: The Winter Soldier... which will be directed by The Russo Brothers. The Winter Soldier storyline means we shall see Bucky in present day, which should be interesting. And finally, we got official confirmation on Guardians of the Galaxy. The confirmed roster can be seen in the official concept art for the movie below and includes (from left to right) Drax, Groot, Starlord, Rocket Racoon, Gamora:
Hidden (Non-Spoiler): show
Image

But that's not all! No release date was given, but Edgar Wright discussed the movie he is directing: Ant-Man. They showed some rough, unfinished test footage that he shot. Seems they'll be using a suit similar to that of Irredeemable Ant-Man, as seen here:

His face was covered, so no details on who will play Ant-Man. Suit is black with red highlights. Ant-Man is shown standing only a few inches tall in an air vent before suddenly growing in a flash and taking out two guards. He punches another in the face while in his small size, knocking one of the guy's teeth out before sliding down his tie, returning to his natural size, and flipping the guy over. He then makes his escape. Sounds pretty cool! No details on if this will release for Avengers 2... or for that matter, no details on when Avengers 2 is coming. But a logo and test footage was shown, so it is indeed on its way.

So lots of good stuff on the way from Marvel!

Post Re: The Avengers Live Action Universe (Marvel Studios)
Well here's some big news...

It appears that Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker, Real Steel) is in negotiations to star as Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Who is Falcon? Well, Falcon is one of the first African American superheroes... the character named Sam Wilson is a kid from Harlem with a troubled past that includes a life of crime after his father and mother were killed at different times by vagrants. In the comics, he has a superhero alter ego known as Falcon, who works alongside Captain America. Falcon has a suit that allows him to fly and enhances his strength, but his name mostly comes from the fact that he can telepathically talk to birds, especially a bird that Sam Wilson had bought named Redwing.

So what does this mean for Captain America: The Winter Soldier? Well, based on the title, we know that Steve Rogers' friend Bucky Barnes is found and brought back to life by the Russian military. With no memory of what happened to him, he's turned into an assassin known as the Winter Soldier. Since this movie is said to take place in present day following the events of the Avengers, I guess Bucky will return in present day. And then maybe bringing Falcon in as Captain America's sidekick will increase the tension there since Bucky was like a sidekick to Captain America in the WWII era. This movie will also have a heavy S.H.I.E.L.D. presence so maybe Sam Wilson will be a part of S.H.I.E.L.D. or something.

I guess we'll have to wait and see to find out what this truly means. This is still in the negotiation process, but regardless this should mean we'll see Falcon in the movie, even if the actor changes. What I'm more curious about is what it means for The Avengers 2. Apparently Falcon was a part of the Avengers team for a short while. If we bring in the sidekicks from the movies and assume that the Wasp will debut alongside Ant-Man as well, we're looking at the following possible line-up for The Avengers 2: Iron Man, War Machine, Thor, Hulk, Captain America, Falcon, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Ant-Man, and Wasp... and maybe a Guardians of the Galaxy cameo or team-up. With Guardians of the Galaxy, it's unclear if they'll be a part of the Avengers team or simply have their story lead into that movie. Regardless, that's at least 10 team members which is quite a bit. Sounds awesome to me!

Word has just come in that Joss Whedon will return to write and direct The Avengers 2! YAY! No official release date yet, but 2015 is likely. Apparently Joss Whedon will also have a hand in developing a live action TV show that will air on ABC that will be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That's great news! Looking forward to getting more details, hopefully we don't have to wait long.

UPDATE: Whedon has signed a three year contract with Marvel Studios to help with their movies... that's fantastic news! The more involved he is the next few years, the better The Avengers 2 will be! Very excited about this news.

Cool! That was the rumored release date a week or two ago, glad to see it finally confirmed. I wonder where Ant-Man will fit in with all of this... maybe late 2014 or early 2015 then?

The Avengers comes out on Blu-ray tomorrow! And guess what... Amazon was awesome enough to send my copy a day early! Got the four disc set, which has the 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, digital copy, soundtrack, bonus features, and more! Only got to see the first hour in 3D before my dad wanted the TV back, so I'll finish another time. Watched some bonus features... deleted scenes were great. I can understand why they were cut, but it's some good stuff. Wanted to try out the Second Screen stuff but that feature in the app is locked. Maybe it'll be unlocked on the official release date tomorrow?

Oh and finally saw the new Marvel One-Shot: Item 47. Eh, it was okay. Nothing special. Anyways, it was a great purchase and I look forward to watching it many times. Got it on my iPhone 5 already as well.

So, a little update... saw the movie in 3D and it was awesome. The visuals, the sound, etc... the action sequences were incredible to watch at home. Definitely a fantastic movie experience at home! And since I got it from Amazon, I didn't get the exclusive bonus disc from Target with the 90 minute "Building a Cinematic Universe" documentary... so I ordered it off eBay. Just had to have it! Got it today and watched most of it, it's pretty good. Nothing really new in terms of info, but cool seeing everything leading up to The Avengers.

We also have a bit of news. First is a report that Black Widow will indeed return in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. As I figured. I wonder if Hawkeye will be in it as well. Also, the teaser trailer for Iron Man 3 will premiere October 23rd! Only 20 days away! The poster will debut the day before that, on the 22nd. Looking forward to it... it's time to kick off Phase 2!

YES!!!!!!!

It has been confirmed that Agent Coulson will be on the S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show! Joss Whedon confirmed today at NYCC that Clark Gregg will return as Agent Coulson. Fantastic news! This means that the TV show will either take place before The Avengers... or if it takes place after, things will be interesting because of a certain spoiler from The Avengers (if you don't know what I'm referring to yet, go watch the movie now!) so I'm curious. Either way, he was awesome so I'm very excited now.

Today I bring you the release date for Ant-Man! It will release on November 6th, 2015.

So that means we have the following...
Iron Man 3 - May 3rd, 2013
Thor: The Dark World - November 8th, 2013
Captain America: The Winter Soldier - April 4th, 2014
Guardians of the Galaxy - August 1st, 2014
The Avengers 2 - May 1st, 2015
Ant-Man - November 6th, 2015

So I guess that means Ant-Man may kick off Phase III then? Should be interesting!
