For such an incredible story with fantastic characters, that's such a huge let-down. Granted, that has less to do with the movie and more to do with the book, but I still think it's the weakest part of the story. Ya, I did think that part was pretty weak, but it's still a great movie.

 Re: Movie Discussion
Watched a few movies in the past few days.
How To Train Your Dragon - Absolutely predictable movie though the terrible ending left me sour. Nice graphics, something seemed off the entire time with the main characters voice.
Date Night- It would have been nice to just have Tina Fey and Steve C(?) just do their silly voices while doing the dinner voices in the restaurant the entire movie, so hilarious.

I agree about Date Night. My wife and I thought it was so funny. Not sure why the critics didn't like it. But oh well... I often don't see eye to eye with them.

Oh no. Now I NEED one of these. Hopefully I get a good summer internship, because this is on the top of my epic-purchases list (just below my new car). http://www.vizio.com/ces/cinemawide/overviewThis is mostly movie related.

 Re: Movie Discussion
Just saw Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. It was actually really good. I'm not a huge fan of the series, but I ended up going with my parents and my wife and we actually both enjoyed it. I only saw 1 other MI movie ... 4 I think it was.
Might consider checking out other titles.

Rented Cowboys & Aliens on Blu-ray... thought it would be interesting to watch as it's such a random concept. I'll post my thoughts later once I watch it.

It's based on a graphic novel. But from what I've read the only things that are really similar between it and the movie are character's names, cowboys and aliens. I loved it, it's really cheesy but in a charming way.

 Re: Movie Discussion
So I saw Cowboys & Aliens and I thought it was okay. It had its moments that I enjoyed and other moments that I didn't think worked well. My thoughts (SPOILER WARNING)... I liked most of the characters and I thought they set up the character progression well for the most part, like with Harrison Ford's character. It was interesting seeing Noah Ringer in a non-cringeworthy performance after The Last Airbender. I knew the plot would be a bit ridiculous knowing that the whole movie is about cowboys and aliens, but I wasn't a fan of Olivia Wilde's character. The fact that she came back to life and suddenly started spewing knowledge about the aliens just seemed way too convenient and lame. Not a fan of that. But overall, it was an enjoyable movie I suppose... nothing special though. Also didn't help that while I was watching (was in my room with the lights off and laying down), my dad decided to come in and use the computer and made me turn the light on in the room. Okay, whatever, at least he was quiet. And then right at the very climax, my mom comes in and decides it's the perfect time to show my dad a video of a panda sneezing on YouTube. Of course, she can't find the email I sent her with the link a while ago so she keeps asking me even though I keep telling her I'm busy watching. I tell her to just search YouTube and she's like "what do I search?"... well hmm, I don't know... maybe "panda sneezing" or something? Duh. So she finally watches it, but at that point I'm way too distracted, so I had to rewind and watch the climax again. Really frustrating. I watched in my room so I wouldn't be distracted, but that's obviously impossible in this house.

 Re: Movie Discussion
Two and a half weeks until the Super Bowl (February 5th)... and you know what that means? New trailers! Well, commercials... but still, new footage! Unfortunately it seems that this year, these major studios are NOT going to have trailers: Lionsgate, 20th Century Fox, Sony, and Warner Bros. That means there will be NO trailers for the likes of The Hungers Games, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Amazing Spider-Man.
So what will there be? As far as I know, nothing has been confirmed but I would expect the likes of The Avengers, The Bourne Legacy, Madagascar 3, Battleship, The Lorax, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, etc. So while I am disappointed at some of the movies that won't be a part of it, I look forward to the ones that hopefully will be. Yay for The Avengers! I think that's a no-brainer, so I'm hoping they'll have a trailer for it.

 Re: Movie Discussion
Finally saw Hugo in 3D. Really good movie, I have no complaints about it that I can think of other than it felt a tad bit slow at times in the first half but not much. Story was interesting and I liked the characters. Just all around a good movie. The 3D was also great for this movie... one part in particular had someone's face getting closer and closer to the screen and it was like popping out at you, kind of creepy lol. But if you can still catch this in a theater near you (not many are still showing it), then I definitely recommend it.

 Re: Movie Discussion
I want to see Hugo, but I guess I'll wait till dvd/blu-ray.
Everyone here, watch Chronicle. It's a really awesome movie, very creative how they use every video camera footage. Great character development, very well paced.. A good comparison is, it feels slightly like a American Akira.

 Re: Movie Discussion
The mystery movie was Haywire. It was pretty good. It was also only €5, it isn't out for another month yet (in The Netherlands), and there was free champagne. So you don't see me complaining.

Just saw 21 Jump Street. It was one of the funniest movies I've seen!
Yes I know it's not out yet, on Twitter today I won tickets to a free pre-screening. Definitely a must buy on DVD. Jonah Hill is freaking hilarious in person! (had a Q&A afterwards)
