Post Power Rangers Samurai/Super Samurai: airs on Nick/Nicktoons
So back in May it was announced that Power Rangers is NOT over and there will be a new, 18th season. The best part of the news was that Saban Brands (the original people that started Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers) bought the franchise back from Disney and they have huge plans for the series. It's awesome to see that a series that I grew up with as a kid will be back in full force by its original owners so that a new generation can enjoy the awesome how. To read up on all the details of Saban getting the show back, check this thread: viewtopic.php?f=183&t=7682. But I figured this deserved its own thread, so without further adieu, I present to you the 18th/19th season of Power Rangers...

Storyline:
Power Rangers Samurai is the 18th season of Power Rangers, and Power Rangers Super Samurai is the 19th season of Power Rangers. These two seasons are based off of the Japanese series "Samurai Sentai Shinkenger". Below is the storyline for the seasons...

Power Rangers Samurai:
"Centuries ago in Japan, Nighlok monsters invaded our world. A group of Samurai warriors defeated them with the mystical Samurai Symbols of Power, passed down from parent to child. Today, the evil Nighlok have risen from the Netherworld once again and plan to flood the Earth. A new generation of heroes, known as the Power Rangers Samurai, must master the Samurai Sword and the ancient Samurai Symbols of Power which give them control over the elements of Fire, Water, Sky, Forest, and Earth. The new Rangers, Jayden, Kevin, Mia, Emily and Mike are not alone in their struggle. An all-knowing mentor named Ji and special spirit animals called Zords (Lion, Dragon, Ape, Turtle and Bear) aid in their attack against the relentless dark forces of the Netherworld and a mysterious Warrior (Deker) bent on destruction, led by the Evil Master Xandred."

Power Rangers Super Samurai:
"The Power Rangers continue to wage their battle against the evil Master Xandred, who has now joined forces with a new super villain, the malevolent Serrator. Through the power of the legendary Black Box, the Samurai Rangers are able to form all new Megazord combinations and becomes Super Samurai. It also allows them to tap into the power of their ancestors and unlock Shogun Mode to help protect humanity from the Netherworld's vile villains. The Black box also allows the Super Samurai to morph into Super Mega Mode inside the Megazord cockpit, which enhances their powers to aid in the battle against super monsters. In addition, a new super weapon, the Bullzooka, will make its first appearance, harnessing some serious laser power to help in the battle to stop the evil Serrator. The team of Rangers continues their quest to save the world from evil, including Jayden the Red Ranger and the team's leader who harbors a secret, Antonio the Gold Ranger who is the most outgoing and playful of the group and a computer genius, Mia the Pink Ranger who is the confident and caring "big sister" of the Rangers, Kevin the Blue Ranger who is a great swordsman and fully embraces the code of the Samurai, Emily the Yellow Ranger who is the youngest and most optimistic of the group, and Mike the Green Ranger who is a bit of a rebel and would rather be destroying video monsters than real ones"

Theme Song:

The theme song for Power Rangers Samurai is a new version of the "Go Go Power Rangers" theme song used for the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. This is the first time in the series since Power Rangers Zeo (season 4) that a version of the original theme was used for the theme song. For Power Rangers Samurai, they've replaced the lyrics "You Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" with "Rangers Together, Samurai Forever". You can watch the opening with the new theme song above. This is also version of the opening that also includes the sixth ranger.

The theme song remained the same for Power Rangers Super Samurai, however the accompanying video was updated to reflect the new season. Here is the new opening:

Rangers:
The Power Rangers Samurai team use their Samuraizers to draw the Samurai Symbols of Power and morph into Power Rangers with the call of "Go Go Samurai!", as seen below...
Image

Red Ranger: Jayden
Image
- Played by Alex Heartman
- Element: Fire
- Weapon: Fire Smasher
- Zord: Lion
- Like his zord, the lion, Jayden is a ferocious leader. He is a man of few words, but when he speaks, every breath counts. He is kind and caring but knows how to be firm when the time comes. He also has a secret that he must keep from all the other Rangers.

Blue Ranger: Kevin
Image
- Played by Najee-De-Tiege
- Element: Water
- Weapon: Hydro Bow
- Zord: Dragon
- Kevin is a disciplined master swordsman and a professional swimmer. His strict but wise father trained him from birth in the ways of the Samurai. He's often the cause of comic relief in the group, but when it comes time to get a job done, you want this warrior on your team.

Green Ranger: Mike
Image
- Played by Hector David Jr.
- Element: Forest
- Weapon: Forest Spear
- Zord: Bear
- Mike isn't a troublemaker, but he is a bit of a rebel. He loves video games and hanging out with his friends. And although he is a very talented Ranger, this free spirit's wild, goofy sense of humor doesn't always line up with the ways of the Samurai. But this shouldn't stop him from giving his all to every battle.

Yellow Ranger: Emily
Image
- Played by Brittany Pirtle
- Element: Earth
- Weapon: Earth Slicer
- Zord: Ape
- Emily is a sweet, innocent country girl who was never supposed to be a Power Ranger. It was her sister who was destined for the squad, but an illness forced Emily to take her place. Although she is a bit of a fish out of water, the passion of the team and the bustle of the city inspires Emily to train hard and make her sister proud.

Pink Ranger: Mia
Image
- Played by Erika Fong
- Element: Sky
- Weapon: Sky Fan
- Zord: Turtle
- Mia is a confident, sensitive big sister to the Power Rangers. She is so eager to give that sometimes her own needs get overlooked. She considers herself to be a great cook, but you'd have a hard time finding another Ranger who agreed. One thing they can agree on is that Mia is a crucial part of their monster-fighting family.

Gold Ranger: Antonio
Image
- Played by Steven Skyler
- Element: Light
- Weapon: Barracuda Blade
- Zord: Octopus

When the Samurai Rangers enter their Zords, they power up into their Mega Mode, as seen in the image below:
Image

Villains:
Xandred
Image
- "Evil Master" of the Netherworld who leads monsters known as Nighloks. He wants the Sanzu River from the Netherworld to rise with the tears of humans, causing it to flood and allowing him to enter the world of the living and take it over.

Octoroo
Image
- Master Xandred's chief advisor.

Dayu
Image
- The other of Master Xandred's followers. She is only half monster, and struggles her human past.

Deker
Image
- Played by Ricardo Medina Jr.
- A mysterious warrior bent on destruction

Master Xandred and his followers send monsters known as Nighloks to attack the human world. When a Nighlok is destroyed, it can grow into a giant Mega Monster and the Samurai Rangers need to summon their Zords to fight them. Master Xandred also commands an army of footsoldiers known as Moogers that are sent out to battle alongside the Nighloks.

Other Cast:
Ji
Image
- Played by Rene Naufahu
- Mentor to the Power Rangers Samurai team

Lauren
- Played by Kimberley Crossman
- Jayden's sister and Red Ranger

Bulk
Image
- Played by Paul Schrier
- Bulk was previously on the show from the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers to Power Rangers Lost Galaxy.
- Well-meaning, but a bit of a dolt, Bulk has big delusions of grandeur that don't often translate to real life. Fancying himself a Samurai, Bulk is determined to shape Spike, the son of his lifelong best friend Skull, into a true Samurai warrior like himself. These efforts often end in comical disaster, as Bulk has no idea what he's doing, and in the face of danger he often runs in the other direction.

Spike
Image
- Played by Felix Ryan
- The hapless son of Skull has inherited his father's clumsy tendencies and his snorting laughter, but that doesn't stop him in his earnest quest to become a Samurai. Though he tries to have courage, Spike is ill-prepared for the dangers that come with being a Samurai and is essentially just a clumsy civilian with a serious crush on the Pink Ranger.

I'm friends with the Green Ranger on Facebook and have talked to him once on Facebook Chat. He was really pumped up and excited and said they're all working hard to make this a good season. Pretty cool guy. I'm excited to see this season soon!

And I'm looking forward to the sneak peek next month. I wonder what they'll show.

It's cool how they used Kanji corresponding to their element for the face shield parts of their helmets. Also, they seem to have mixed up the blue and pink Rangers' Zord/element.
Water ≠ Dragon, Sky ≠ Turtle
Water = Turtle, Sky = Dragon

Yea, it probably would make more sense that way, but in the show it's a flying turtle and a water dragon. Weird choice though, I agree. Here are pictures of them...

Supposedly a reliable source (maybe Paul Schrier himself) said that Ricardo's Facebook page is fake. So thankfully, we can scrap that rumor probably which is great. I did not want Ricardo returning as Cole, the worst Power Ranger ever. For Blake Foster, we don't know if that was real or not, and in regards to Paul Schrier...

Image

Sounds like he's pretty much telling us that he's not in New Zealand, so maybe he won't be in Power Rangers Samurai after all. That sucks, I would have liked him to return.

Also, Power Rangers Samurai will be featured on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! No word on whether it'll be just costumes or the actual cast... I'm betting it's just costumes probably since the cast will still be in New Zealand filming. Source: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases ... 39318.html.

And finally, the toys should be coming out before Christmas, so possibly sometime this month we may start seeing them! I never got to finish my collection of MMPR toys cause they ended up scrapping some toys, releasing some in super limited quantities, or just never releasing them at all. I got most everything, but not Lord Zedd, the White Ranger, or Titanus... and they never released the Dragonzord. Oh, and they never released the morpher too, which is insanely disappointing.

lol yes it does. All the zords are based on origami kind of, in the way their shapes look. They all look like this when folded up and they're small enough for the rangers to hold in their hand...

Image

Then they open up and grow huge, and look like this...

Image

Pretty interesting designs.

Here's an article focusing on Power Rangers Samurai for the parade....

Quote:
Image

Rangers together, Samurai forever! The universe’s most successful kids action series returns with a bang when the Samurai Power Rangers descend upon the streets of New York during the 84th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade® on November 25th. Utilizing their Samurai powers which give them control over the elements of Fire, Water, Sky, Forest, and Earth, the Rangers will embark on their first journey together as they escort the Planet Earth balloon through the streets of Manhattan.

The 84th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade kicks off on Thursday, November 25, 2010 and is broadcast nationally on NBC-TV, from 9 A.M. to 12 P.M., in all time zones.

The new Samurai Power Rangers show will be airing on Nick in early 2011.

Hmm... "Rangers together, Samurai forever!" sounds kind of like a morphing call. Hopefully that's not it, cause that sounds pretty dumb to me.

First images of the toys have been released!

4" Red/Blue/Green/Yellow/Pink Rangers and Nanashi (name not final):

6.5" Red/Blue/Rangers (morph with the press of a button):

Basic Disc Sword:

Deluxe Sword:

Cell Phone Morpher:

Deluxe Megazord:

A few interesting things to note:
- The Cell Phone Morpher is interesting looking, and it's interesting that it says "It's Morphin' Time!" on it... I really hope that's the morphing call again!
- I don't think the Deluxe Sword is in the show... or at least not the Japanese version. The Disc Sword is, but I can't remember the Deluxe Sword.
- I'm interested in finding out the names of some of these things, like the megazord. And I hope they don't call their morpher the Cell Phone Morpher on the show.

There are other toys and stuff listed too, but they're all extra stuff not on the show. Here's the full stuff if you're curious: http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/menu ... egory=5303.

For reference, here are the Japanese figures (yea I know, it's a horrible quality image):
Image

The US figures look so terrible compared to those, but unfortunately these are the quality of figures we get. Oh well, at least we're getting something. Ugh, stupid Bandai. I think this toyline so far I'm going to try to get all the 4" Power Rangers and the Nanashi (or whatever it's called in Power Rangers Samurai), as well as the Morpher, Megazord, and maybe Disc Sword. If I can't get all of those, which I probably can't... then I just want the Power Ranger figures. I do like that they're bringing back the 6.5" flip-morphing figures, but I don't see a listing for all five rangers, so I don't see a point in getting them for me.

Well this is interesting. I posted on Hector's (the Green Ranger) Facebook about the toys and he had an interesting response...

I'm Hassan, by the way. Honestly, it's probably just Hector building up hype, so it's probably nothing... but it's still cool that he responds to people like that.

That's kinda cool that you're able to talk with them like that. Seems pretty down to earth. Of course, it's not like they are HUGE names in the acting world, but still...that's cool.

Yea, I like that. I've talked to a few other Power Rangers actors/actresses in the past but on message boards. This is like the only real direct contact I've had with any of them and it's cool. But with Saban taking over again, it really makes me happy to see the actors happy about being on the show cause when you enjoy your job, chances are you'll be better at it. So I'm really excited to see this show.

Just a little update and reminder...

The 6th ranger headed out for filming like a day or two ago to New Zealand. He's also set to appear on the episode of Glee this week, so tune in for that. If you want specifics...
Spoiler: show
The Gold Ranger is played by Steven Skyler. In this week's episode of Glee, there's an all-boys school and Steven plays one of the students there. You see him sing briefly in a group of students, led by actor Darren Criss (played Harry Potter in A Very Potter Musical), who is the main singer of whatever song they are singing. I don't know any more specifics than that since I stay away from Glee spoilers, but if you want a picture of Steven to know who he is on Glee, then check the first post under the rangers. I don't even think he'll have a speaking role, just one of the background singers (if he even sings).

First sneak peek on Thanksgiving! After the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, there will be a special first look at Power Rangers Samurai on Nickelodeon! It's unknown if this is the same sneak peek that will air on Nicktoons in the next few days after that, but either way... it's our first ever official look at the season on Nickelodeon. Here's the section from the PR...

Post Re: Power Rangers Samurai: airs Early 2011 on Nickelodeon!
Okay... so remember how I said to disregard those rumors? Well, you might want to remember them again. The guy that has sources (he's been right about a ton of stuff, so he's telling the truth) said that his source told him Paul Schrier's (Bulk from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers) Facebook was fake. He made it seem like his source was Paul himself, but now the guy (goes by the name of RangerWisdom) says his source isn't Paul. Regardless, if he is to be trusted, Paul's Facebook is fake. We assumed that means the whole thing was fake... but maybe not.

See this image below?
Image

That's from Hector's (Green Samurai Ranger) Facebook. I didn't think much of it until I saw that Ricardo (Red Wild Force Ranger) had posted a picture on his Facebook...
Image

Now, I don't know about you, but the walls and everything else look like it could be the same place. In fact, he has an album of pictures (http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=3 ... 0991766388) and that place looks similar to me. Also of note is that Ricardo Medina's Facebook account says his location is Auckland, New Zealand (NZ is where they film Power Rangers) and he is friends with Hector and also Felix (plays Spike in Power Rangers Samurai).

Then what makes it even more interesting is that RangerWisdom says he contacted some other sources and Ricardo's Facebook page is indeed real, and he is indeed in New Zealand. That doesn't mean he is involved in Power Rangers though. But RangerWisdom ended by saying "That's all I can say. I'll let you guys do the rest of the digging." He did later say that from what he's seen, it looks like he's on vacation, but someone posted something on his page about shooting or something, which is weird. There has been predictions that he could return and play the mysterious warrior Juzo. Hard to say at this point.

On a semi-related note, I just realized that RangerWisdom used to frequent a different forum before under a different name and so we knew each other from back then. Interesting how things turn out... back then it was me and others (including him) defending reliable sources with inside info... and now he is a reliable source with inside info lol. Anyways, I'll report whatever else I find if more comes up.

UPDATE:
So to clarify, apparently there was some miscommunication going on... Paul's Facebook is real. Ricardo's Facebook is real. Whether they're involved in Power Rangers Samurai or not is all speculation, but if their Facebook accounts are real, then their communications must be real too, which makes things really interesting.

lol yea, seriously.

On a toyline-related note, someone at their local Walmart said their Power Rangers toy section had a new design plan that had "PR-SAU" listed on it, which seems like the abbreviation they're using for Power Rangers Samurai. Not sure what that means really, but I'd expect the toys by the end of this month or early next month (just my guess based on what I remember from the past).

Well this is interesting news. Elie Dekel, President of Saban Brands, had some stuff to say about Power Rangers Samurai. The biggest news? 43 new episodes... not 40. Well, that's interesting. Maybe those other 3 are TV specials or something? I know Nick does that for their other shows. Also mentioned things like bringing some more humor back into the show, and making it more fun. They looked back at the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers to see what was successful about that. Interesting stuff... can't wait for Thanksgiving to see them in the parade and for our first look!

Looks like I was right! Rick Medina is very likely going to be on Power Rangers. Whether he will play Cole or a new character is still unknown. So what finally confirmed it?

Here's an image someone put together on another forum that makes it easy to explain:
Image

So the photo at the top is Ricardo Medina. As you can see, Ricardo is seen pictured on the photo on the left. Who are the two other people he's pictured with? All the way on the left is Najee, the Blue Samurai Ranger... and at the bottom is Hector, the Green Samurai Ranger. So yes, Ricardo is hanging out with two of the new Samurai Rangers in New Zealand. The picture with the three of them was posted by Hector on Facebook, and he's apparently been deleting any comments that mention Ricardo, though Ricardo is tagged in the photo. Oh, and that building pictured at the bottom is what Ricardo posted earlier on his Facebook. So it's all connected.

RangerWisdom has commented and also confirmed that's Ricardo, though there's already no doubt. The picture above of the three of them together was not Power Rangers related, and they were just having some fun. But RangerWisdom was quick to point out that there used to be a comment on Ricardo's page saying good luck with the shooting, and it's since been removed. Oh, and there are other pictures of the three of them hanging out, all taken and posted on Facebook by a Charlotte Francis-Ching.

So basically... this is all pretty much proof that Ricardo will be on Power Rangers Samurai. But in what capacity? He won't be a new ranger, and I doubt they'd bring him back as the Red Wild Force Ranger cause that doesn't make sense. And based on how long he's been in New Zealand, this isn't some one episode thing... I'm guessing he's going to be on for at least a few episodes. My guess is he's going to play the villain Juzo, though that's a total guess. Honestly, the biggest question for me now is whether or not he will play the character of Cole or a new character. He could play Cole, who turned into Juzo (cause the Japanese Juzo had a human form that was featured often). Personally, I would want him to return as Cole... simply because of continuity and the fact that he was already a character on Power Rangers.

Now yes... Cole was my least favorite Power Ranger ever... but I'm willing to give him a second chance since it's been years since his season. But it's definitely interesting to me that out of all the people, for whatever reason and for some unknown character, they brought Ricardo Medina back. And it's cool that myself and others were able to piece together this casting news just from Facebook.

Post Re: Power Rangers Samurai: airs Early 2011 on Nickelodeon!
So Hector posted something on Facebook: "Today a new member joins our team". Who is he referring to? Well, people keep guessing and posting comments and Hector is saying stuff like "you guys have no idea, cant wait for yall to see!"... but I'm pretty sure he's just referring to the 6th ranger. Steven Skyler flew out to New Zealand a little over a week ago, so it makes sense that they would be filming the episode where he joins the team by now.

On another note, I've been thinking about it more and I think the morphing call might indeed be "It's Morphin' Time!" again. I mean... Hector wrote out his kanji symbol and then yelled "It's Morphin' Time!" at the end of one of his videos. And then the toy morpher says "It's Morphin' Time!" on it. I REALLY hope that's true, cause that would be an awesome nod back to the original series. Hopefully we'll find out soon.

Post Re: Power Rangers Samurai: airs Early 2011 on Nickelodeon!
Okay, so a few updates:

First off, Blake Foster's (Justin, the Blue Turbo Ranger) Facebook is real. Wasn't sure of that, but RangerWisdom confirmed it. That means he really did get in contact with Iris, the Casting Director for Power Rangers Samurai and in his post, he said to tell Jonathan hi... Jonathan is the producer of Power Rangers Samurai. Very interesting...

Next is this image:
Image

Those are the new Samurai Rangers. I would normally say they're just having fun at an amusement park, but they do have color-coded robes, so maybe they filmed there.

Then we have this image:
Image

They're filming a scene where a man is finishing... so maybe this is the adaptation of episode 7 of Shinkenger, where the Blue Ranger had to fish for the Swordfish Zord.

Image

The above image was also posted along with some other images. RangerWisdom seems to think it means we'll see horses in Power Rangers Samurai in some way, shape, or form... but I'm not sure how he came to that conclusion. I guess we'll find out.

Lastly, about that post about a new ranger joining the team... myself and others posted on Hector's Facebook saying that he's talking about Steven Skyler, while a few others mentioned Ricardo Medina Jr. Anyways, someone named Aaron said "Aww man you guys are kill joys you shoulda kept everyone else suspense!"

And then Hector replied with: "Aaron trust brother no one has a clue, or near close! Keep ur hopes up! For sure, and sit back and enjoy the ride guys cuz here we go!"

What does he mean no one has a clue? Honestly... I think he's just making stuff up to drum up hype since it seems very likely that it is Steven he's talking about. But still, something to keep an eye on.

Oh wait... one more thing. Steven Skyler's name on the show isn't going to be Wesley, like the casting script said. Since all the names for the other rangers were changed from the casting scripts, I'm not surprised about this. I wonder what it'll be.

So this is interesting. Paul could just be reminding people about this... but then again, the first look has not been publicized and was just in a random press release, plus I don't know much about Paul but I don't see him following and posting Power Rangers news. So why would Paul be reminding us about something Power Rangers Samurai related? Could it mean he's on the show?! I hope so! I'm actually starting to think he might be, but I'm trying to stop myself from thinking that cause that would make me too happy and I don't want to be disappointed. Hopefully Paul is returning... I guess we might find out next week with our first look at Power Rangers Samurai!
