Post Power Rangers Megaforce/Super Megaforce (20th Anniversary)
Season 19 of Power Rangers, known as Power Rangers Super Samurai, is now airing on Nickelodeon. But also currently, filming is underway for the next seasons of Power Rangers. The 20th season of Power Rangers is currently airing. Yup... it's been 20 years. Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers premiered in 1993 and now the 20th season is currently airing in 2013. What's it called? Power Rangers Megaforce.

Image

Season 21 is known as Power Rangers Super Megaforce, and will begin filming this month (February 2013).

Storyline:
Power Rangers Megaforce is the 20th season of Power Rangers and is based off of the Japanese series "Tensou Sentai Goseiger". It will be followed by a mixed adaptation of Goseiger and the Japanese series "Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger" under the name of Power Rangers Super Megaforce, as the 21st season. Below is the storyline for the next season...

Power Rangers Megaforce:
A supernatural guardian named Gosei has protected the Earth for centuries along with his robotic aide, Tensou. But when the evil Warstar aliens led by Admiral Malkor begin their massive invasion, Gosei calls upon five teenagers with attitude to form the ultimate team... the 'Power Rangers Megaforce'! When the high school students morph into Power Rangers, they gain superhuman strength, agility, and mastery over martial arts. In addition to defending earth against the Warstar aliens, other monstrous factions emerge to challenge the Megaforce Rangers. Under the leadership of a malevolent alien, toxic beasts rise from their slimy underground lair to attack the Earth and a ruthless robot army launches an offensive from their deep sea compound. In order to face these new threats, the Power Rangers Megaforce unlock powerful battle modes to fight their adversaries. With the aid of special Power Cards, the teens are able to control the Earth's elements to use in their defense, from crushing rock slides to powerful floods. Using their new abilities, weapons, and high-tech zords and Megazords to battle the numerous alien threats, the 'Power Rangers Megaforce' will prove that "Earth's defenders never surrender!"

Power Rangers Super Megaforce:
*story unknown*

Power Rangers Megaforce will have the five main Power Rangers from Goseiger, as well as Robo Knight. The season will end with a mega battle that includes every Power Ranger (known as the Legend War in Gokaiger). Then Power Rangers Super Megaforce will continue with the five main Power Rangers based on Goseiger. They will gain a "Super" mode power-up that will give them the pirate suits from Gokaiger. A Silver Ranger will join them as well. Using Ranger Keys (as they were called in Gokaiger), they will be able to transform into previous Power Rangers. And also like Gokaiger, we will see the return of former Power Rangers cast members in Power Rangers Super Megaforce.

The main five use their Gosei Morphers to morph into the Power Rangers Megaforce using the morphing call "It's Morphin' Time! Go Go Megaforce!", as seen in this clip:

Gosei sends a new member of the team, Robo Knight, to help the Power Rangers. He debuts in episode 8. Here are the Megaforce Rangers...

Red Ranger: Troy Burrows
Image
- Played by Andrew Gray
- Weapon: Dragon Sword
- Zord: Dragon Mechazord
- Troy Burrows is a born leader, though he may not know it yet. His tough upbringing made him responsible and focused, and it shows in his incredible martial arts skills. As the new kid in town, he's kind of a loner at the start, but makes fast friends when he joins up with the Megaforce. Troy is compassionate and loyal, and a true champion of the underdog. But mess with the Red Ranger's friends, and you're in for a fierce fight with his Dragon Zord!

Blue Ranger: Noah Carver
Image
- Played by John Mark
- Weapon: Shark Bowgun
- Zord: Shark Mechazord
- Noah Carver may be a tech geek, but his wits make a fierce weapon against Earth's alien invaders. What he lacks in physical coordination he more than makes up for in brainpower, and with his more socially savvy best friend Jake at his side, these two make the perfect team. Sure, Noah may prefer studying up on the supernatural to engaging in battle, but the Blue Ranger's fearsome Shark Zord is no sci-fi fable.

Black Ranger: Jake Holling
Image
- Played by Azim Rick
- Weapon: Snake Ax
- Zord: Snake Mechazord
- Jake Holling is out-going, optimistic, fun-loving, and fearless when it comes to both the battlefield and social situations. He loves being the Black Ranger and saving the world with the help of his Snake Zord, but sometimes he wishes he could make his superhero identity public. His one weak spot is his huge crush on the Yellow Ranger, but he's determined to make her fall for him one day!

Yellow Ranger: Gia Moran
Image
- Played by Ciara Hanna
- Weapon: Tiger Claw
- Zord: Tiger Mechazord
- Gia Moran is labeled as 'Miss Perfect', and it's hard to argue that it's the truth. Pretty, personable, and a powerful martial arts fighter, Gia is as intelligent as she is confident. She's been best friends with Emma since they were little, and that's not going to stop just because they're in different social cliques now. The Yellow Ranger's constant success can be frustrating to her teammates, but she and her Tiger Zord are dependable to the end!

Pink Ranger: Emma Goodall
Image
- Played by Christina Masterson
- Weapon: Phoenix Shot
- Zord: Phoenix Mechazord
- Emma Goodall is totally in tune with nature, and always on the lookout to protect the environment. So when aliens start attacking her home planet, she takes it VERY personally. She may be sweet, but underestimate this BMX biking chick and you'll find yourself at the mercy of the Pink Ranger's Phoenix Zord!

Robo Knight
Image
- *voice actor unknown*
- Weapon: ???
- Zord: Lion Mechazord

Silver Ranger: Zador (tentative name)
Image Image
- Played by Cameron Jebo
- Weapon: ???
- Zord: ???
- Appears in Power Rangers Super Megaforce

The five main Megaforce Rangers use Power Cards in their Gosei Buckles to call upon special abilities and powers. Robo Knight uses his Robo Morpher to active his Power Cards. In Power Ranger Super Megaforce, the five Megaforce Rangers in "Super" mode along with the Silver Ranger will use "Ranger Keys" to transform into previous Power Rangers.

They will morph into Ultra Mode (seen below) in episode 11:

This isn't related to the 20th Anniversary season specifically... but it's been CONFIRMED that Power Rangers is getting season box sets released!

Shout! Factory has signed a deal to distribute DVD's and Blu-ray's of Power Rangers. It is very likely we shall only get DVD's by the way, I would not expect Blu-ray's of any previous seasons. The deal includes every season of Power Rangers, except the recent Samurai and Super Samurai. So that means, we shall get DVD's of the following...

Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers
Power Rangers Zeo
Power Rangers Turbo
Power Rangers in Space
Power Rangers Lost Galaxy
Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue
Power Rangers Time Force
Power Rangers Wild Force
Power Rangers Ninja Storm
Power Rangers Dino Thunder
Power Rangers S.P.D.
Power Rangers Mystic Force
Power Rangers Operation Overdrive
Power Rangers Jungle Fury
Power Rangers RPM

The deal also does not include the theatrical movies (Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie). However, it does also include other non-Power Rangers Saban programs, including Big Bad Beetleborgs (a.k.a. Beetleborgs Metallix), V.R. Troopers, and Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation.

The initial releases will begin THIS Summer! They'll start with single-season sets, and potentially release complete-series sets in the future.

I can't wait! I'm definitely buying every season on DVD, been waiting for years and years for full official releases!

YES! Great news!

So one of the things people have speculated about is if/when Gokaiger is adapted, how will they do it? Gokaiger is a series where the ranger team can transform into any other Power Rangers... however, Super Sentai has been going on for 35 years and Power Rangers only 20. There are 15 extra teams from before Power Rangers started that were never in Power Rangers. There's a big scene at the beginning of Gokaiger showing every single ranger together in a giant battle called the "Legend War"... now that's not really usable in the US because of those extra 15 teams of rangers in the footage. Also, on a side note, they showed extended bits of Legend War footage in a Super Sentai theatrical movie in Japan called "199 Heroes".

There was an interview in the February issue of Hyper Hobby with Toei executive Takeyuki Suzuki. For those that don't know, Toei handles the Super Sentai series, and Hyper Hobby is a Japanese magazine. We only got a partial scan of this and so we didn't know its full contents... until NOW! We now have a translation of the article. The article mentions how Toei received an offer from America to do something like the "199 Heroes", but obviously the issue was all those other teams that don't exist in Power Rangers. They couldn't just get rid of those parts and cut footage, so they began discussing filming new footage with only the 20 years' worth of rangers they need.

And they end the interview with Suzuki saying the 20th Anniversary of Power Rangers in America is coming, so they have to put forth a lot of work on that. He then says that in preparation for that, they asked Toei to film scenes with only those teams that were in Power Rangers, and Toei is currently setting up for that. What does this mean? It means a POWER RANGERS LEGEND WAR IS CONFIRMED! This is pretty big news! The only other time I can think of where Toei filmed extra footage for the US was back in the Mighty Morphin' era. This also basically confirms that Gokaiger will indeed be adapted next for Power Rangers, and shows that Saban is definitely taking this seriously and seems to be willing to pay extra to get something special for this anniversary. Can't wait!

Post Re: Power Rangers 20th Anniversary (airs in 2013)
So here's the deal with the DVD's...

Each season will be releases individually over time. The first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers has 60 episodes, so it's being split up into two DVD releases. The first 30 episodes are being released as "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Season 1, Volume 1 for about $20 on August 21st (though Amazon has it for about $14). It'll include 3 disks, so that's 10 episodes per disk. Then in the Fall, the latter 30 episodes of the first season will be released as Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Season 1, Volume 2. From the sound of things, these releases will not have bonus features.

Then they are partnering with Time Life for TV commercials and online ordering for special sets for the fans. Two special sets have been announced, and both will be available starting July 30th. The first set is the first season of Mighty Morphin... basically the two DVD releases I mentioned above, but combined so it's a 6 disk set with all 60 episodes of the first season. So that's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Season 1... no word on whether this will include bonus features or not.

The second special set that Time Life will sell is Power Rangers: Seasons 1 - 7. It's a 40 disk set of the first 7 seasons. This special set includes all 145 episodes of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Seasons 1, 2, and 3, the 10 episode Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers mini-saga, and all 183 episodes of Power Rangers: Seasons 4 - 7. This release WILL include bonus features like a retrospective featurette on the MIghty Morphin Power Rangers phenomenon, brand-new interviews with members of the cast and creative team, and more. For those that aren't sure what the first 7 seasons are, they are the following...

1) Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
2) Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
3) Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (including the Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers mini-saga)
4) Power Rangers Zeo
5) Power Rangers Turbo
6) Power Rangers In Space
7) Power Rangers Lost Galaxy

So those are all the announced releases so far! They'll of course release each season individually I'm sure, but this collector's set of the 7 seasons is the way to get those episodes way before everyone else, plus it has exclusive bonus features which is great. I'll definitely be getting this set! And I also wanted to point out that the number of episodes on this 7 season set is almost half that of the Power Rangers series, so I would expect them to release a set of seasons 8 - 17 next.

We have more info on the 7 season box set!

The 7 season box set (containing a total of 338 episodes on 40 DVD discs) will cost $219.95... which comes out to be roughly 65 cents per episode. Out of the 40 discs, 2 of them will be full of bonus features including rarely seen archival material; exclusive new featurettes; and interviews with the cast, creators, and fans of Power Rangers. Plus, it will come with an exclusive figure of the Mighty Morphin Red Ranger (with the Green Ranger's shield). This boxset has also been delayed a bit and the new expected ship date is August 6th.

If you want images of the individual season DVD covers and the exclusive figure, go here: http://www.samuraicast.com/dvd/timelife-dvd.php

Sounds pretty reasonable to me! This is definitely a set for the fans with all the exclusive bonus features. Anyone else can wait for the individual season releases. But the fans will not want to miss this, and I know I'm not going to miss it. It is a lot of money, but it is reasonable for the amount of content you get... I'll just have to keep saving money for this. Can't wait!

Quote:
Next year will mark the landmark 20th Anniversary of the Power Rangers brand, an occasion for which Saban Brands is already deep in preparation. Plans for the anniversary include a new series, “Power Rangers MEGAFORCE.”

Saban Brands plans to embrace the series’ cross-generational appeal during the anniversary by celebrating its past as well as its present and future.

Older fans will be able to participate in special events and online activities, while new products and the new show will attract younger fans.

“We’re in an exciting place as a brand. We look at the 20th anniversary not just as a celebration of the past, but as our entry into a third decade,” Dekel says.

With new series launching every two years that reinvent the brand and change its theme, Power Rangers looks to remain a force in children’s entertainment. “Just like our audience, we’re constantly reinventing ourselves,” Dekel adds. “We can honestly say that after 20 years, this isn’t a fluke – kids really do identify with and engage with this show.”

Source: http://www.retail-merchandiser.com/inde ... /706-saban

Finally the big news begins! The 20th season of Power Rangers is titled "Power Rangers MEGAFORCE". And it's an appropriate, albeit super cheesy, title for the season because of the ability the rangers have to turn into any rangers from previous seasons so it really is a "mega force" of Power Rangers. This title was trademarked many months ago and so we had an idea there was a good chance this would be it... now it's confirmed.

We also have confirmation that like with the Samurai theme being split into Samurai and Super Samurai over 2 years, the same will be done for MEGAFORCE. Seems that's the new trend for Power Rangers now. Anyways, casting is well underway and I think they're nearing the final stages of callbacks so it shouldn't be too much longer until we find out who the cast is.

Post Re: Power Rangers Megaforce (20th Anniversary, airs in 2013)
Okay, get ready for a rant. We finally got some info... and I'm not happy with it.

In order for things to make sense, let me explain the background of the situation here. Right now we're getting Power Rangers Super Samurai (season 19), which is based on Samurai Sentai Shinkenger in Japan. Because Shinkenger's adaptation was stretched into two seasons (Samurai and Super Samurai) over two years, we are behind in terms of what season comes next. In other words, we have two different seasons to pick from when deciding which season to adapt next: Tensou Sentai Goseiger or Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. I'll refer to them as Goseiger and Gokaiger just to make things easier.

Goseiger has the same color scheme as the original Mighty Morphin team (Red, Blue, Black, Yellow, Pink). It's "gimmick" includes these cards that are used for weapons and power-ups and stuff. Most people that watch the Japanese series found this season to be rather dull and nothing special. The theme of the season is based on angels, or at least that's where the design influences came from. Then there is Gokaiger, which celebrated the 35th anniversary of the Japanese series. Its rangers were based on pirate designs, and their "gimmick" were these so-called ranger keys. These ranger keys allowed them to transform into any ranger from the past. This season I actually watched in full and I absolutely loved it. It was a fan-favorite because the suits looked awesome and many episodes featured cameos from previous rangers because it celebrated an anniversary.

So we had Goseiger and Gokaiger to pick from... normally, the logical thing would be that Goseiger is next. We've never skipped a Japanese season since Power Rangers started in the US. However, the next season (now known as Megaforce) is the 20th season and Saban Brands has said they're going to play up the big 20th anniversary. Supposedly there will be a 20th anniversary toyline and everything. Considering this is an anniversary season... it makes sense to adapt Gokaiger, so that the rangers can transform into rangers from previous season and we can have cameos and everything. So things were split... do we go with history and assume Goseiger is being adapted? Or is it logical to think the anniversary aspect of Gokaiger makes more sense?

When casting began last year, the casting sides were straight from Goseiger episodes. It seemed like Goseiger it was. However, casting stopped. It was delayed many months and the reason was to elevate the creativity of the season. Now what on earth could that mean? It's the 20th anniversary... maybe they decided to change their mind and adapt Gokaiger? Makes the most sense. That seemed to be the common theory at the time. And then we got word from a Japanese magazine about something interesting. You see, Gokaiger has this thing called the Legendary War that features rangers from all the seasons fighting one giant battle. The magazine stated that Saban Brands had asked Toei (who handles the Japanese series) to film its own version of the Legendary War. The Japanese series had 35 seasons of rangers in it... but we only have 20 seasons. It wouldn't make sense to have 15 extra teams of rangers in the US footage.

Once that news hit, it seemed very likely that Gokaiger would be adapted. I mean... the casting was delayed months (which only happens for big things), Saban Brands has been playing up the big anniversary, the Legendary War is supposedly being reshot for the US, there's a 20th anniversary toyline coming... everything just made perfect sense. And then the big news hit today... it is NOT Gokaiger that's being adapted, it's Goseiger. WHAT THE HELL?! How does that even make sense?! Honestly, I have no freaking clue.

It makes me really mad to see this happen. Considering Megaforce will last through 2014, we'll have multiple other seasons to adapt from and it means a Gokaiger adaptation is unlikely ever at this point. How are they going to celebrate the anniversary with a Goseiger adaptation? Sure they could have cameos still. Sure they could use the card "gimmick" and make that anniversary related. Sure they could reshoot the Legendary War to be based around the Goseiger team. Sure they could do all of that stuff... but WHY?! Gokaiger is absolutely perfect for the occasion, why change that? It honestly worries me. If Gokaiger was adapted, we would have to have a big anniversary season, there's no way around it. Now... I'm worried it might just be some little thing they do. The only nostalgic part about Goseiger is that the color scheme of the team is the same as the Mighty Morphin team.

Here's the PR announcing the Megaforce season:
Quote:
LOS ANGELES (June 11, 2012) – (Virtual Press Office) - Saban Brands will launch the newest version of Power Rangers, the number-one kids action series on television, with Power Rangers Megaforce . The all new series, which premieres in 2013, will deliver mega action, humor, excitement, and entertainment, in addition to the core themes of friendship, teamwork, fitness, and helping others. Power Rangers Megaforce will air as Saban Brands celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the Power Rangers franchise.

“Power Rangers continues to delight fans of all ages, even nearly 20 years after it was first introduced to kids across the world,” said Elie Dekel, President of Saban Brands. “We are excited to continue the success we’ve experienced with our partnership with Nickelodeon and introduce fans everywhere to a MEGA- installment in 2013.”

Power Rangers Megaforce introduces a plot line that is sure to captivate audiences with exciting new characters, villains, and high-octane action. The new series features Gosei, a supernatural guardian who for centuries, has protected the earth with his robotic aide, Tensou. But when the evil Warstar aliens begin their massive invasion, Gosei calls upon five teenagers with attitude to form the ultimate team...the Power Rangers Megaforce!

When the teens morph into Power Rangers, they gain superhuman strength, agility, and mastery over martial arts. Go Go Power Rangers! – fans can look forward to all new MEGA adventures in 2013.

This stuff worries me. Goseiger's full name is Tensou Sentai Goseiger. Seems they took the Tensou and Gosei out of that and made them names in Megaforce... that's just so random and doesn't even make sense. Gosei sounds a lot like Zordon and Tensou a lot like Alpha. Seems like they're really trying to play up the Mighty Morphin parallels. It just annoys me that we're missing out on such an amazing opportunity to see all the previous ranger teams on screen with a Gokaiger adaptation. I honestly want to know what they're thinking with this move. Maybe there's a chance we'll also see the Gokaiger suits used? Maybe. At this point, it's very unclear what's going on.

You get one answer and two more questions arise... *sigh* it's quite annoying. We know that the Saban Brands booth at the Licensing Expo has two posters up: one for Megaforce and one for the 20th anniversary. We'll get pictures of both tomorrow, but hopefully we'll also get more information on just what they're planning. I'm also annoyed cause a Gokaiger adaptation would mean there would be lots I want to buy... Goseiger though, maybe not. I'm tempted to go watch Goseiger to see what that's all about now. I don't know anymore...

-----------

In other news, you know that special 40 DVD box set of the first 7 seasons? Well, we have the box art for it and it's FREAKING AMAZING!!!! Check it out: http://awwman.com/nps/main/2012/06/excl ... y-box-art/. I'm SO happy I ordered this! Woot!

Now for some info...
- Power Rangers Megaforce premieres on Nickelodeon in early 2013 with 22 episodes, including holiday specials.
- For the 20th Anniversary, Saban Brands plans to interact directly with the super fans for a variety of events and surprises, more details coming later this year.
- Saban Brands has acquired the 4Kids block on TV. Starting this Fall, they will air 1-2 Power Rangers episodes every Saturday during the 4Kids block (in addition to the usual stuff on Nickelodeon). No details on which seasons they're going to air on 4Kids, but more information is coming later this year.
- The Power Rangers 20th Anniversary will be promoted at Comic Con; attendees can see the Megaforce teaser, the Super Samurai cast will be there, Bandai and Mattel will promote their toys, Shout! Factory will be selling the 40 DVD set, and Saban Brands will host fun activities and exclusive giveaways.
- The Super Samurai cast will be at the Power Morphicon convention. Saban Brands will also make a few major announcements, including the Megaforce teaser.

Also, here's the official poster for the 20th Anniversary:

After the initial anger at the fact they're not adapting Gokaiger, I'm now sort of meh about it all. I'm more curious than anything just to see what they're doing with Megaforce. Hopefully we'll get more info soon!

Post Re: Power Rangers Megaforce (20th Anniversary, airs in 2013)
So a lot has happened in the past day and we have clarification on some things. To start off, I will say that I am no longer angry or disappointed... in fact, I'm quite happy and very excited! Let's get into what's going on...

In 2013, the 20th season will be Power Rangers Megaforce. And yes, it will celebrate the 20th anniversary in some way... though in what way is not yet known. One article hinted at returning cast members, so we may see some cameos. We also know that in 2014, there will be another season of Megaforce... what it will be called (Super Megaforce, Ultra Megaforce, something else?) is not yet known. After that, while nothing is confirmed... it is likely that we will get an adaptation of Gokaiger in 2015.

Basically, a teaser was shown for Megaforce at the Licensing Expo. We don't know what the teaser showed. However, it will apparently reveal that Megaforce is NOT a simple translation of Goseiger. They have some original storylines they're doing. Why didn't they do Gokaiger for the anniversary? Apparently they are not allowed to skip a season. Supposedly, from talking to Saban Brands... someone has said "Gokaiger fans will be very pleased when the time is right". What about that Legendary War that was a part of Gokaiger? Supposedly, there are hints that will indeed come at some point... though when is anyone's guess.

So personally, I'm very happy. My annoyance with Gokaiger not being used as the anniversary season was that because of how perfectly it lends itself to an anniversary, I assumed that meant it would be completely skipped. But apparently not! So as long as we get it eventually, I'm happy. This does make me wonder though. If they can't skip a season and they keep stretching everything into two years... we're going to be very far behind eventually and the footage will start to look old. I wonder what they're going to do about that. Like, here's how things pan out...

2009: US has RPM (based on Go-onger); Japan has Shinkenger
2010: US has nothing; Japan has Goseiger
2011: US has Samurai (based on Shinkenger); Japan has Gokaiger
2012: US has Super Samurai (based on Shinkenger); Japan has Go-busters
2013: US has Megaforce (based on Goseiger); Japan has Sentai season 37
2014: US has season 2 of Megaforce (based on Goseiger); Japan has Sentai season 38
2015: US has adaptation of Gokaiger (based on Gokaiger); Japan has Sentai season 39

So you can already see that by the time 2015 comes around, we will be getting an adaptation of a Japanese season from 4 years earlier. That may be okay... but if the pattern continues, who knows what'll happen.

Anyways, I'm really excited for Megaforce now. Based on the comments that were made, I'm led to believe that what may happen is that Megaforce will celebrate the anniversary and have cameos... and eventually the second season of Megaforce will end with the Legendary War, where all the rangers lose their powers and it's a cliffhanger. Then the Gokaiger adaptation continues from there. Something like that seems possible. Regardless of how they do it, it seems like Megaforce will be interesting to watch and the eventual Gokaiger adaptation will be sweet as well.

Oh, and here are two cool pictures. First is to celebrate the 20th anniversary:

The other is the Megaforce rangers with the Saban Brands team:

Post Re: Power Rangers Megaforce (20th Anniversary, airs in 2013)
So Comic-Con is next week and there will be a panel on the 20 years of Power Rangers, which will be when they show the Megaforce teaser to the public. It was shown at the Licensing Expo a while back and reports indicated it had some "easter eggs" and various things to indicate that it had an original storyline and that it was definitely celebrating the anniversary. Granted, they're limited in what they can show since they haven't completed casting yet, but it should give us some details at least.

Also, a product listing on Barnes and Nobles had this to say about Megaforce: "The 20th Season of Power Rangers will include flashbacks, weapons, and characters from previous seasons, and promises to be the most exciting season yet!" That sound really interesting! I'm definitely hyped for this season, I wonder what they have up their sleeve.

I've also updated the first post with some details like the villain's name (Admiral Malkor).

Post Re: Power Rangers Megaforce (20th Anniversary, airs in 2013)
San Diego Comic Con is here! And with it comes news... lots of news.

First up, for those longtime fans, they're launching a program called Power Force where we'll have "insider access" and be able to offer our input on the 20th Anniversary. Sounds cool! It's found here: http://www.powerrangers.com/powerforce/. There's a cool image of the Red Rangers at that link as well. Also, here's the Power Force logo:
Image

Second is news of Bandai's 20th Anniversary toyline. They're going to be releasing a bunch of stuff to cater to the fans. What exactly? Check it out...

Power Morpher (the morpher of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers):

Die-cast release of the Mighty Morphin Megazord:

Armored Mighty Morphin Red Ranger:

Sentai Series - Shinken-Oh (this is the Japanese version of the Samurai Megazord, the first time EVER they're selling the Japanese version in the US, and since it's labeled "Sentai Series" maybe there is more to come?):

Mighty Morphin Mask Set:

That is some AWESOME stuff for the 20th Anniversary!

Now for some Megaforce news... and it's MAJOR news. So you know how Megaforce is an adaptation of the next Japanese season Goseiger? Well the following season, Gokaiger, would have been perfect for the anniversary. We knew it was going to be adapted... but the thought was Goseiger adaptation for two seasons, 20 episodes each... and then a Gokaiger adaptation. Wrong. Gosieger adaptation is one season, and then Gokaiger adaptation is part 2. Are they 20 episodes each? Seems like it, which is really weird... that's a lot of cut footage if so. At this point, it's quite unclear though.

But from what we know, Power Rangers Megaforce is the 20th season and is a Goseiger adaptation. Then the Gokaiger adaptation is the 21st season, unofficially called Super Megaforce. We know the big Legend War from the Japanese series (where all the rangers sacrificed their powers and then the Gokaiger team arrived) is also being adapted. So maybe Megaforce will end with the big Legend War, leading up to Super Megaforce. At this point, it's unclear. Also... will the Megaforce cast also be the Super Megaforce cast? It's all very unclear at this point.

It's a very interesting choice and makes me more curious than ever. Hopefully more details will be revealed soon! Seems like every answer we get leads to more questions.

UPDATE: Added details on Saban's Vortexx with Lost Galaxy re-runs to the first post.

UPDATE: Now we're hearing it might not be Gokaiger suits for Super Megaforce, but simply Gokaiger "concepts"... whatever that means. At this point, it's all very unclear what's true and what isn't.

Post Re: Power Rangers Megaforce (20th Anniversary, airs in 2013)
Rumor time! Casting is basically over and the final cast has either been picked or about to be picked. And so we have one casting rumor. It was reported from inside sources that the Pink Megaforce Ranger MIGHT be Ciara Hanna... however her recent tweets seem to suggest she may instead be the Yellow Megaforce Ranger. Nothing is confirmed yet, but things seem to be hinting at that. Here's a picture of her:
Image

Hopefully we get more details on the cast soon and confirmation on Ciara. With Power Morphicon 3 next month and Saban Brands planning on revealing Megaforce details... it'd be perfect to bring the cast and unveil them then. But with the insiders we have, chances are we'd find out ahead of time. So we'll see...

EDIT: One person, Sundai Love, who is in the running for the Pink Ranger has tweeted that they're casting for Pink Ranger again. What does that mean? Well, maybe they had Ciara as Pink but then changed her to Yellow... which means they now have to find someone else as Pink. So, possible further evidence of the above being true. Hopefully we find out soon.

Following up on the rumors of Ciara Hanna being Pink Ranger, we have more possible cast members. Remember, these are NOT CONFIRMED...

Red Ranger - Andrew Gray:

Blue Ranger - Peter Adrian:

Yellow Ranger - Kristina Marie Kane

Still nothing on the Black Ranger. In terms of the above rumors, the Yellow Ranger is rumored based on her tweets (including conversations with Ciara, rumored as Pink Ranger), the Blue Ranger is rumored from an inside source, and the Red Ranger is rumored from some comments on his Facebook page with people saying congrats.

It appears the cast has been chosen. It's only a matter of time before we get confirmation on who they are. Until then, we wait.

I've updated the first post with some casting details!

Ciara Hanna is confirmed as Yellow and Andrew Gray confirmed as Red. There is also a high probability of John Mark Loudermilk as Blue and Christina Masterson as Pink. We should get confirmation on those as well as the Black Ranger soon. Supposedly, they've been casting for a Silver Ranger as well, though we may not get confirmation on that actor for a while so we'll see.

Also... the official Power Force, the group of Super Fans, is now accepting applications! Check it out here: www.powerrangers.com/powerforce/. I filled mine out. I'm rather nervous, I hope I get in. I would think I certainly deserve it as I'm a huge fan, but we'll see if I'm selected.

Post Re: Power Rangers Megaforce (20th Anniversary, airs in 2013)
YAY! Power Rangers Megaforce has officially been unveiled at Power Morphicon!

First up, here is the teaser:

It reveals that they ARE using the Legend War footage from Gokaiger, even though Goseiger is the season being adapted. Also... they didn't remove all the old Super Sentai teams that were never used in Power Rangers. That's very interesting. Who knows if that's because this is just a teaser and they don't have the footage ready... or maybe they really will use the footage of all those teams.

The other major piece of news is the cast has been unveiled! They were revealed for the first time in costume at the event:

And here's a video of the cast in costume:

Lots to be excited for. Really looking forward to seeing what they do with Megaforce! I've updated the first post with all the news.

UPDATE: Better video of the Megaforce cast unveiled:

Also updated the first post with better, higher quality pictures of the cast.

Filming has begun! Can't believe the 20th season is underway. Also have more confirmation that the rangers will be students, though it's unknown if they're high school or college students.

Filming continues and we have a more more minor details. The rangers will be high school students, which is nice since that hasn't been done often. It was done the first few seasons and then stopped for a while, happened again in Dino Thunder, and then that was it until now.

And for fun, here are some pics of the actors (only the girls tweet much, so just pics of them) either on set or in New Zealand just messing around:

In the next few weeks, we should slowly start to see Megaforce toys trickle onto store shelves as well. Apparently there are already Megaforce Halloween costumes which is interesting since it doesn't start until February probably.

Also, we have confirmation that the tentatively titled "Super Megaforce" 21st season airing in 2014 WILL feature previous Power Rangers actors returning. No confirmation one way or another for the Megaforce season next year, but I have a feeling we will because that is the 20th anniversary. Plus, Ciara (Yellow Ranger) tweeted this earlier this month: "met a special guest on PR tonight mmm ;)" which sounds like it could be a return of an old cast member perhaps. Only time will tell...

In case anyone doesn't know most seasons of the power rangers including the very first few seasons are on Netflix. I watched the first seasons up to Zeo and I can believe I watched it so much when I was a child that I didn't miss one episode. I knew every episode that came on.
