Both "Last Story" and "Last Window" were trademarked and so lots of people, myself included, thought they were for the same game. They revealed "Last Window" as Hotel Dusk 2 and so we just thought "Last Story" was for that too until they revealed this new game and now we know it's a separate game.

We now know that the heroine's name (the one in the title art) is Kanan, and the hero is named Elza. Elza lost his family when he was young and chose to work as a mercenary to make a living, working up to being a knight in the future.
In some of the battle screens, blue light comes from Elza's arm when "Gathering" is cast, which allows him to use magic. When initiated, a counter appears over his head, and when it hits zero, the spell is cast. Enemies will focus on spell casters, though.
