I don't know if it's just my way of thinking or just a stupid belief or maybe it is something else entirely.

If a game presents options or assistance, are you okay to accept it; or do you refuse to use them? Or do you use them and tell everyone else otherwise?

Examples:
-Nintendo's 'auto invincibility' suit (DK series, Mario series)
-In game purchasable items: protection from falling (Mega man, DK, etc)
-In game assistance - items like Squawks in DKC games where it helps you find secrets

Post Re: Thoughts on - Using Game Assistance items
I don't really care either way I suppose and I don't generally use them... but I have no problem doing so if I needed to. Since I have limited time with video games, my preference is to experience as much as possible. So if something is rather difficult, I'd prefer to skip it and move on. That's not to say that I want everything to be easy... I like some challenge. But personally, if I can't beat it after a few tries, then I won't bother wasting more time since I just don't have much time for games nowadays. So while I haven't really used these types of times much before, I don't have an issue doing so in the future.

I don't really use them, but I am glad they are optional.

I almost never use them and HATE having to resort to using them, but I am glad they are there as younger folk (well younger than me) enjoy them and sometimes need them. For example in Super Mario 3D Land my little brother was attempting to beat a level and right when he was about to get frustrated that tanooki suit appeared and helped him finally beat the level.

I've just been wondering since I have it in my head that it makes me "less of a gamer" if I need to use them. However, particularly with DKC, I really get to the point of frustration where I get very negative. It doesn't happen a lot, but there are just those times where I can't complete it, and just refusing the help options.

For me it depends on how many lives I have left before I use the helpful item or not. Usually I will; but sometimes I won't. Though I won't admit it in public or if you ask me directly. :P

Unless buying balloons in DKC counts, then no. They make me feel dirty..

No, the White Tanooki suit takes away all the challenges. And the argument that it's for younger players is ridiculous. I used to die in Mario 3 all the time and I didn't get help...oh wait Game Genie...my argument is invalid.
