OFFICIAL 3DS Ambassador NES Games Competition Thread WEEK 5
For week 5 you will be competing in Metroid and Zelda I!! You have until 11:59 pm Sunday November 20, 2011 to submit your hi-score entries, so get to it! RULES FOR METROIDYour submission must be a video showing you defeat Mother Brain in the fastest time possible. I will give you a password to start you at the end. This password will start you at Tourian, fully powered, suitless Samus; The Password is: 0iF - - - - - - w - q 3ax - 50 0000wxAll you have to do is simply just go and kill mother brain with the fastest time. The video must start on the password screen and continue through the defeat of Mother Brain. This is a time trial, SO we will not start the timer until you gain control/move Samus. The timer ends the moment you kill Mother Brain. Fastest time wins. As a requirement for a valid entry, I also need to see your slip of paper with your username in the video either in the beginning or the end. You don't have to keep it visible the whole time, just enough for ME to read it. This is a requirement. It would probably be best if you used it showing you enter the password. I also NEED to be able to see the password you entering to verify it is the correct password. Thank you! As for Zelda I, well here's the deal. FOR ZELDA I, WE ARE GOING TO MAKE THIS SIMPLE AND KEEP IT LIKE METROID. I WANT YOU TO VIDEOTAPE HOW LONG IT TAKES YOU TO GET TO GANON FROM THE MOMENT YOU GAIN CONTROL OF LINK AND DEFEAT HIM. All I need to see in the video is starting from the Profile selection screen where you use the username pattern I outlined in the first post. Your video MUST show the profile screen so I can verify your username. From that point, just make a video of you getting to Ganon and defeating him as quickly as possible. Best time wins. DETAILSStart the game from the first screen, NOT in or outside of Level 9. I repeat start your save file in the first screen. Then proceed to Level 9, bomb the entrance, get the silver arrows and defeat Ganon. The timer will start the second you gain control of/move Link. So think about the quickest route to get to the dungeon and the quickest way to defeat him. The timer stops when you deliver the final blow to Ganon. First things first, you must use the LAST 8 characters, REVERSED of your forum name when registering your name in Zelda I for the entry to count! For example, Dark_Banana would just be ananaBkr, or Gamer Greg would be gerGrema, Peach Power would be rewoPhca and so on. Submit your entries as soon as possible, because in case of a tie, rank will be determined by time of submittal. Good luck! As the title suggests, we here at NintendoFuse wanted to host a friendly, little hi-scores competition for all you 3DS Ambassadors. Of course, little did we know that what we thought would be a simple little contest turned out to be freaking HUGE! So, without further ado, let's get to it! Since there are 10 NES games available for you Ambassadors, we have decided to split the competition out over the course of 5 weeks. Every Sunday morning, we will inform you of which games are eligible for the hi-score competition that week. Okay, now we're going to get into prizes/winnings so pay close attention. We have several prizes to give away over the course of these 5 weeks. Some of the prizes include games, figurines, shirts, and well, there's more. Each week, the top 3 hi-scorers will be our winners. While all 3 people will receive prizes, the 1st place winner will get the better of the prizes and so on, obviously. You are eligible to win every week if you are willing to put the time into each game. At the end of the contest, we, the staff here at NintendoFuse will select the 3 Grand Prize Winners. Yes, you read that correctly. Not only can you win FREE stuff for 6 weeks in a row, you can also be eligible to win one of our GRAND prizes! All you have to do is play some games, register on our forums and post your scores! How incredibly easy and fun is that?! The way this will work is through a random drawing. In order to be entered into the drawing, you must place in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place each week of the contest. For whomever places in 1st place, you will receive 3 entries into our grand prize drawing. Second place receives 2 entries, and Third place receives 1 entry.
I repeat:
1st Place = 3 entries 2nd Place = 2 entries 3rd Place = 1 entry
The better you do, the greater your chances of winning a grand prize, on top of the FREE stuff you will win during each week. Please note, 1 Grand Prize per person. Are you ready for these GRAND prizes that I speak of? Okay, here goes. Feast your eyes on these!RULESEntries must be in the form of either a video or a picture. All entries must clearly show your 3DS unit, the hi-score screen, and we must be able to clearly see the hi-score. Please make sure you include a slip of paper with your screen name on it in the photo. See below for a good example. Your entries must be posted on the OFFICIAL COMPETITION FORUM and you are more than welcome to update your entries throughout the week. So remember, if you see someone has a better score than you, get back on the game and go for higher! Disclaimer: NintendoFuse reserves the right to change the functionality of this competition at their discretion without any prior warning. Entering this competition means that you accept the terms and conditions of said competition. * I said it was 'our choice', now quit wondering how. Why are you even reading this? Go and start racking up some hi-scores!

noahdp wrote: how can i video and play the game and keep track of how long it takes Video can be done with someone else recording you, or somehow propping the camera up. For the tie-breakers, I put it on a stack of DVDs, my arms wrapped around them holding the 3DS and having a "top-down" view of the upper screen. As for time, the length of the video is usually shown on the camera. You can also use a stop watch when you view the video. Time starts when Samus moves.

Re: OFFICIAL 3DS Ambassador NES Games Competition Thread WEE
In terms of the weekly prizes, we wouldn't be getting duplicates right? Since I have 2 second places, I won't be getting 2 of the same thing?

noahdp wrote: am i the only one one the website with out mario 3d I wouldn't think so. I know the admins have it more so to review it, and others that really wanted it have now. I'm sure it's on many people's holiday list. If you get picked for the grand prize entry you may have then too. I'm sure it will likely go Skyward Sword, MK7 then Mario 3D Land. I got it day 1 since I wanted a second 3DS game. Your profile shows you having several other 3DS games, so it's a matter having the cash. I'm sure others that are multi-consoled and got MF3, Skyrim, BF3 and felt this month bankrupted them. I believe the last game I bought (without counting Wiiware/3DS ware/Both Virtual consoles) was Ocarina of Time 3D.. so I had plenty of time to save for it.

I don't even know when I'll get to go honestly. I'd like to get it this week on the way home from work, but that is yet to be determined. Sorry I haven't posted about Zelda yet, I got hit with a deadline here at work and I have to focus on that now. I will post as soon as I can think more about it and actually write out the challenge.

I don't have Mario 3D either. I've already got so many games I'm trying to complete.

Re: OFFICIAL 3DS Ambassador NES Games Competition Thread WEE
At least no one can get a head start on me. I wiped out my existing files and made 3 save files so in the event I need to start over I'm ready. Come picture time I will delete the other 2.
Someone wanted stats for the Activity log, here's an insert from my post in the activity thread:
October: steps: 44,362, play time 76:29, 18 titles, #1 = Yoshi, #2 Wrecking Crew, #3 Ice Climbers November: steps: 31,017, play time 49:30, 19 titles, #1 = Zelda II, #2 = Super Mario Brothers, #3 Balloon Fight
NES Golf still has less than 25 minutes logged :)
Not sure how I put all that time into the first week's games and didn't come anywhere close to qualifying...

Is that for Zelda or both?
Also can we end this week early?

I'm guessing both. Why early? Zelda information isn't even posted yet...

I'm guessing both. Why early? Zelda information isn't even posted yet... So it ends before Skyward Sword comes out and I know whether I need to spend money or not.

That way if you win, you can return it for your money back. Or you could sell it on Ebay or something. Or you could pick Mariokart 7 or Mario 3D Land.

Nah if I buy it I'm not going to return because it won't feel like I won it and I can't really get around yet because of the leg. If I some how win SS then I'll also be able to get the other 3DS games because I only have 80$ from old paychecks. I don't think I'd be able to get back to work for a while.
